About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Good for special occasions
  • Romantic
A favorite of Julia Child - Pot au Feu Bistro is so much more than a restaurant... Established in 1972, our cozy Bistro is the oldest French Bistro in America. Pot au Feu Bistro kicked off the Providence Restaurant Renaissance being the first to offer something other than “steak, spaghetti and chow mien”.
Located in the Historic Downtown we are just minutes from all the hotels and convention center.

We had a terrific and romantic dinner. The service was excellent, the food was terrific, and the wine was great. We ordered a bottle of wine, appetizers, dinner, and desert. Everything was amazing. I look forward to our next visit.

I can't say enough positive things about this amazing dining experience. The ingredients are so fresh and each recipe is crafted with extreme care. The service is also unmatched. It's such a warm, welcoming and inviting ambiance. I always look forward to my reservation there and know exact what I'm going to have. Highly recommend this Providence gem.

The service was fantastic, the appetizer escargot no flavor, the bread was more like white bread not French bread, the tornados was good, the beef bourgenoin was very dry we sent it back. The server was great she took it right away and my wife got the tornados which was good. The cream brûlée was very thick we did not like it. Years ago when upstairs was open it was fantastic. Unfortunately not anymore. We ate here a few years ago and had a poor experience we thought we would try it again but nothing changed. For what we spent on dinner there are so many better restaurants. A new French restaurant is opening up nearby hopefully that will be better.
