A favorite of Julia Child - Pot au Feu Bistro is so much more than a restaurant... Established in 1972, our cozy Bistro is the oldest French Bistro in America. Pot au Feu Bistro kicked off the Providence Restaurant Renaissance being the first to offer something other than “steak, spaghetti and chow mien”.
Located in the Historic Downtown we are just minutes from all the hotels and convention center.

Always a delight. Food and atmosphere are great…. It is like stepping back in time to a little neighborhood bistro in Paris. Love it

I found the main plate portions a bit small, although our food was great. Steak frittes with the better cut of meat & truffle fries wwas delicious.

We felt like a light dinner. Warm buttered French Bread, crisp green salad with homemade mustard vinaigrette dressing and a large bowl of onion soup topped with croutons covered by Gruyère cheese. All accompanied by a bottle of red Bordeaux wine from Bob’s excellent wine collection. It was a spectacular meal topped of by coffee and pot du chocolat.

A great find… reminds me of Filomena in Georgetown DC and Hugo’s Cellar in Las Vegas - fine dining in an classic atmosphere of days gone by.

It was a relatively pleasant evening. The Boeuf a la Bourguignon was flavorful, tender, and filling. The Vegan Pot au Feu was somewhat bland. More like an Irish boiled dinner. The bread was excellent. The server was very personable, but we had some long waits for food and service. The men's room ran out of paper towels.
