I have been to Portosole many times, usually I have had an exceptional experience except last night. I assumed that the big block of pecorino/reggiano cheese was available for any dish... I requested to have a bit of it shaved for my guest's risotto... rather, he brought an order of the spaghetti mixed inside said cheese. Apparently, this is a dedicated block of cheese for a spaghetti dish. Admittedly, it was a misunderstanding and my/our own misperception. I was embarrassed, apologized to him profusely, to which the waiter's answer was "the chef was upset, he gave me a hard time"... The waiter was obviously upset at me... leaving myself and my guests confused. I did reach out to the manager, who was supportive and assured that it was inconsequential. Although this experience will not preclude me from visiting again, my advice to the restaurant's staff is to be a tad more careful when taking orders by verifying and checking without a sense of rush. Plus, misunderstandings do happen -suggest chef and staff understand that as patrons, we go there to have a positive experience and not to be put in the spot. Still, based on previous experiences and moreover, the quality of the food, I can honestly say that this is one of the best restaurants in Miami.

WOW! Best Italian restaurant in Florida ...by far! I went because of the reviews and now i'm writing one to agree with everything I read! Service , food, ambiance all first class...don't arrive early , they don't have a bar or waiting area...once you are seated get ready for a first class Italian restaurant experience.

Everything good except that when we got there they would not sit us down because they had to wait for the manager. We had reservations and were on time. But food was excellent.

Excellent service provided by Mr. Verona and Mr. Eduardo. The food was delicious. The restaurant was full, I understand why do they ask for a $35 cancellation fee. They also called to confirm the reservation.
