We are afternoon tea people. When we go on vacation we always book a tea. The Frontenac appeared to be THE place to go for proper tea. The service as good. The tea itself as “ok.” The water was no where near boiling which, every one knows, has to be for delicious tea. We had to politely ask for hotter water. But alas, it was only warm/hot. By the time the tea steeps for a few minutes the tea has cooled even more. I’m just saying that if you’re a stickler for great tea, there’s a chance you’re going to be disappointed. They served the scones with jam BEFORE the savory which was also new to us. We are used to savoy sandwiches followed by scones with jam and cream. I had hoped this would be in the top ten of our favorite afternoon teas but it was not. The staff was sweet and helpful.

Such an amazing experience. The service staff was so nice. The food was absolutely delicious. And the plates and table set is gorgeous. I wanted to buy them for myself. I’m so glad I was able to attend their service.

The set up of tea was beautiful, with the tables along a wall of windows on the boardwalk. The food and tea were absolutely lovely, and the service was top notch. They were very accommodating of allergies and made adjustments to the menu based on restrictions. 10/10

Of course the thé was wonderful. But the highlight? The staff. Pure Quebecois kindness. A pleasure.

Breakfast has improved! I used to find the muffins for the Bénédictines under-toasted but not anymore. The potatoes are crispier now too. I appreciated the option of hot-smoked salmon as well as cold. I was hoping for some of the cheese bread that I liked so much at the Manoir Richelieu last month but didn't see any. Service still extremely courteous and the view of course is gorgeous.

I was disappointed at the afternoon tea at Fairmont Le Chateaux Frontenac in Quebec City. It is supposed to be a 1st class luxury hotel and the $75 tea (plus tip and taxes was $100) was not even close to my local tea shop in Washington DC. They initially put me at a table NOT with a view. I requested to be moved--best part. I said I had a sensitivity to dairy and they brought me 2 absolutely inedible dairy free dishes so I requested my food with dairy. The food with dairy improved to edible but not much past that point. The scone was a soft biscuit. Not bad but not a scone. The sandwiches and desserts were incredibly small ( 1" x 1"). and a few things had no taste. The table was scratched and 2 waiters spilled water. The best part was the tea and the view. For the $, have tea someplace else.
