About this restaurant

  • Vegan-friendly
  • Good for special occasions
  • Vegetarian-friendly
Pietramala is a little restaurant located in Northern Liberties celebrating plants, wood-fire cooking and seasonality. We offer a small, regularly changing menu based on the highest quality, organic ingredients grown or made with care in Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic. Our Italian leaning, but globally inspired food is always presented simply with familiar flavors achieved in creative new ways. Often touched by fire, smoke or fermentation to unlock unique flavors, our dishes sometimes require days or even months of preparation. We pride ourselves on our open kitchen, where our wood-fired hearth takes center stage, and our commitment to friendly service and warm hospitality in an intimate, but lively atmosphere. All are welcome and our entirely plant-based menu can accommodate any allergy or dietary restriction with advance notice. We look forward to welcoming you.

We went here for my husband's bday. It was good but def overpriced for the proportions and menu variety. The best thing we ate was the sourdough focaccia bread, which was adequately priced and tasted fantastic. We had the Duram Pappardelle which the pasta itself was fantastic and perfectly al dente, but the ragu was SALTY AF not to mention the proportion was def what I would call a small plate for $26 per plate. We also had the Comb Tooth Mushroom which was honestly the worst thing I ate there the mushroom was very meaty and borderline burnt. However, the service was nice they saw we did not touch the food much on the mushroom dish so they deducted it from the final bill. Lastly, we had Macadamia Gelato for dessert. It was interesting at best had but of a salty low garlicky spice taste. The food also was very spaced out took a long time for things to arrive and we noticed that across the board we saw it at other tables too. Overall, not the best vegan experience - my poor husband wanted to pick up Tacobell on the way home LOL so probably will not return again anytime soon.

The food was creative, flavorful, and appealing to both vegans and non-vegans. The small rowhouse space is inviting. Despite the small space it didn’t feel crowded because there is enough room between the tables. Servers were friendly and responsive. We had a great time!

My husband and I really loved most of the dishes and the drinks were all incredible. We ordered the Comb Tooth Mushroom they had the on the menu and found it to be too charred, the only flavor we got from it was “burnt”. The focaccia, carrots, sweet potato, and beet salad were all great. Although, the service was poor. We sat down at least 30 mins before our neighboring table who seemed to be regulars and our dinner service took at least 1.5 hrs but they finished theirs well before us. They ordered almost as many dishes as we had and even they had also ordered the Comb Tooth mushroom, which was our last dish, and they brought theirs out before us and our server told us “the kitchen is backed up”. That made it a poor experience, but the food was really tasty.

I visited Pietramala for the first time for my Birthday dinner. I had heard about it from my daughter.I was very excited to try it and was not at all disappointed! The service was impeccable - very efficient, but relaxed. And the food! I loved that they had small, medium and large plates, and that everything was expected to be shared. The presentation of each dish was so beautiful, and the flavors were outrageous! I especially loved the Elk RIdge Golden Beet salad with the crispy sunchokes, and the Primordia Cremini Carpaccio. The olive oil in the second dish was so flavorful, as if the olives had been fresh squeezed, and the presentation of the paper thin mushrooms spread so artfully on the plate with the generous portion of pine nuts on top was brilliant. This was truly a memorable experience, I hope the first of many!

Good food and good service. Affordable. Would recommend getting 5-6 dishes for two people as portion sizes are on the smaller end. Would definitely come back.

The smell of the wood grill upon walking in was amazing and then all the food was absolutely delicious. Everything was executed so well, servers were very nice and mindful of each table.

First, the sourdough focaccia is an absolute must! we enjoyed the carrots with turmeric yogurt, and blood oranges , the parsnip Milanese as well as the festive cabbage entree with a green cilantro oil.. loved the very creative menu. Don’t miss dessert either we had a nice pot of tea with the best macadamia nut ice cream I’ve ever had! I will say the mushroom carpaccio wasn’t what I expected. It’s not the same as Vedge. I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu !
