Piccolo Buco Roma - set mere steps from Rome's famed Trevi Fountain - is where Cooper's Hawk Founder, Tim McEnery, first discovered Chef Luca Issa and his wonderful pizza. The ingredients were deceptively simple: creamy, indulgent mozzarella mingled with a bright and bold tomato sauce. But it was the extraordinary, tall crust - crisp on the outside yet cloud-like at the center - that won his heart. He couldn't wait to introduce America to a pizza this special!

Tried the pasta fagioli soup, has a little spicy kick due to the sausage, the arugula & Vin Santo Grape salad which has a nice a agrodolce twist with the sweetness of the grapes with the lemon vinaigrette and Gorgonzola. The fungo pizza is delicious. The server was wonderful! Overall, very good experience.

After previous great experiences, I was excited to introduce my friend to the restaurant. Unfortunately, this experience did not live up to the self-created hype—from the service to the quality of food. It was a relatively busy Tuesday night before the holidays, but there were still open tables around the dining room. It was over five minutes before the server even acknowledged us, as he navigated around the dining room to the two tables (a two-top and six-top) beside us. Still, we were optimistic he'd turn things around and give us even a basic level of attention. He did not. Every part of the ordering process was painful, from getting our wine flights to ordering our dinner. The wine flights were ordered at the same time as the squash blossom appetizer but arrived after we were halfway done with the appetizer. The man who delivered them though was absolutely delightful—and possibly the highlight of the night—and we wished he was our server. Ordering dinner was even worse. We watched as our server came over to the tables right beside us and tended to them, then turned and went back to the kitchen without so much as a glance in our direction. Eventually, we were able to order and then were neglected again until we had finished most of our dinners. My friend got a box and perhaps the one redeeming moment in our interaction with this person was that he brought her a dressing on the side to go.   When it came to the food, the squash blossom was an appetizer I had multiple times before and was excited to share with my friend, but it much more thickly battered and less delicate than usual. I ordered the truffle pasta dish, which was okay, but the plate was extremely hot, likely from sitting under the heat lamp, and as a result, the sauce was a bit dried out. The worst thing about this experience was being really excited, based on past experiences; hyping it up to my friend; and leaving wholly disappointed.
