Mr. Cembrero first came to America from Palencia, Spain in 1994 as a high school exchange student. He lived in Irwin for about a year and kept in touch with his host family after returning to Spain.
Pallantia is the place for Cembrero to share his native home with his adopted one. “I’m a proud Spaniard,” says Cembrero. “And I want to bring the best of my country.” Cembrero grew up helping his grandmother cook paella. For Cembrero, authenticity starts with ingredients, he is importing many key items from Spain.

Recommend taking advantage of tapas , in particular, the salads are amazing! I am NOT a salad person so this endorsement is legit. Plenty of food to share and taking things home to reheat is the way to go. Wine selection is limited but decent. Save room for desert, they usually only have two or three choices, order all of them! I got the rice pudding and bread pudding, delicious!

This was the third time here and the food was excellent all three times. The waitress was pleasant and attentive and the price was appropriate. The only negative was the bar. Drink amounts were small and uneven. For example 1person ordered tequilla on the rocks and another ordered vodka on the rocks and the amount of alcohol was much different in the 2 drinks. I would suggest charging a bit more for the drinks but have a good pour. We had 6 people and the person who had a small drink said he loved the food but the drink was reason enough not to come back. I eat out a lot and the people I eat with don't worry about what a drink costs but will be put off by a small pour.

The first time we went, we loved it. Flash forward a few months, and the repeat was not good. The salad was so overdressed that I had to send it back. The second time they brought it out, it was still inedible. The portions on the charcuterie board were much smaller, and everything was really salty. Also, the service was terrible. Certainly won’t be going back again.

We had the cheese and charcuterie platters for appetizers, and the potatoes. They were good. We had the octopus and lamb chops for an entree. Also very good. Tyler, our server, was very sweet. Per a host of other comments about this restaurant the service is simply ok. Don't expect to be able to get your server anytime soon. The real problem appears to be a lack of/no communication among the kitchen and the front of the house. Three of our 4 entrees came out at the same time. We had to wait to find out when the 4th entree was coming. A full five minutes later, if not more, the 4th entree came out. We had to ask our server to find it. They were out of both of the Albarino white wines on their list. She hadn't been told that. This was a Saturday evening. Unless the communication improves dramatically, we won't be going back. We can get much better food for the same price, and have excellent wait staff.

We were spending a few days in Pittsburgh and decided to try Pallantia--we were delighted. The food was excellent (we both had the paella) and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Highly recommended.
