   A mixed review. The wine list is quite good and the service was also attentive, both from the sommelier and the waitstaff. The hamachi crudo appetizer was excellent, if small (to be expected from that sort of appetizer. My crab cake (for $27) was quite good but for that much money, I'm expecting something phenomenal. The main dishes were small for the price. (We lived in Manhattan and Paris for years so we are not looking for huge portions necessarily.) I had the lamb ragù and merguez fettuccine dish. Very little meat. I love merguez sausage and was looking forward to actual chunks of sausage. That said, it was tasty. My husband had the deboned whole branzino. Tasty enough but actually had a number of very small bones which were so small that they were hard to deal with and he ended up having to pick food out of his mouth in order to deal with the bones.

   Made a reservation 2 weeks in advance and this place didn't disappoint on our visit tonite. Our hostess seated us and we were promptly met by the sommelier with a wine list---nice touch with some recommendations. We were mostly cocktail drinkers...call and premium Manhattans and Old Fashioneds (very well done) and one lone wine drinker---Ken Wright Pinot Noir was a good tried and true Pinot that went with most anything. Server was super knowledgeable of the menu and the food entrée preparations--did not miss a beat! We all had apps or salads...butternut squash bisque, Caesar, and a serving of liver mousse. Very nice preps and excellent flavor. For entrees we ordered the swordfish, Cassoulet, the Chicken Quarter and Squid ink pasta. Eclectic with tons of flavor, cool presentations---all great choices. Skipping a second cocktail, everyone decided to order 2 desserts...the Chess Pie and the chocolate mousse cake with salted caramel ice cream. Once again, flavorful and well executed...totally on point from the kitchen tonite! Great job from service to food...we will be back celebrating a special occasion and are looking forward to the new Spring menu!

   We had dinner in the lounge at Palace Prime, it was happy hour. It was very good except the clams were a bit chewy. The taste of the broth was very nice, just wish the clams were tender. Drinks, ceviche, chicken sandwich and pomp frites were very good. Will go back.

   The tuna tartar was an exceptional appetizer & the bronzino was also delicious. The sommelier, K. Bustamante, is the most knowledgeable sommelier I have ever met in Santa Fe & I've lived here 50 years. She is exceptional.

   We enjoyed our first visit to Palace Prime. We were eating light, so my husband had the beef carpaccio (he raved about it, very tender and flavorful) and the crab cake (full of crab and browned on the top). I had the risotto special (cacio e pepe with truffle shavings) and a Caesar salad with Spanish anchovies. These also were very tasty and a nice-sized portion. Our server was helpful and attentive but not overly so. We enjoyed the beautiful red and gray interior, a change from the usual Santa Fe style decorating that is common here. Finally, we LOVED that the restaurant was quiet and conducive to conversation, even with a few large groups near us. The fabric-covered ceiling tiles must have helped. This all made for a lovely evening.

   We chose a steak house for New Year’s Eve and there was not any steak on the menu available. The server told us that they sold out all prime rib and rib eye. This was not what to expect. My husband order a drink. He tasted and immediately asked the server to get it back because he didn’t like. He ordered a new one but he was charged for both.
