This last minute booking for a Sunday lunch was a nice surprise. I had pasta St Charles (amazingly delicious), Rum cake (equally delicious) and non alcoholic drink what it isn’t (another winner). Meal served with bread and butter. Server was prompt professional. Only thing it was bit noisy for me.

Horrible… and we were so looking forward to dinner. The host was arguing with a waitress when we walked in about what tables had been seated. The food was just awful and improperly prepared (missing ingredients). The Brie with bacon jam was slimy and had chunks of stale bread (truly not the same as croutons) floating around in it. The beet salad with mascarpone was wilted, tiny and had no mascarpone, the waitress ended up bringing some out to throw on top. The shrimp salad was sent back and re-prepared; better the second time but still mediocre eats. The onion soup had very little cheese on top and appeared to be a bowl of soggy bread. The burger was chewy and way overcooked. The bread brought to the table in a bag was just bad. The Elysian Field mocktail was lovely, and the waitress did her best to keep up with all the mistakes coming out of the kitchen. A group of buskers came in towards the end of the meal and were stopping and singing at each table, which I guess could be charming in the right situation but the noise level was already very high. All to the tune of about $50/head, don’t do it.

Excellent food, our waiter was a delight, we were upstairs and had the tall white guy ( so sorry forgot his name)! Would recommend this place to anyone.

Great food and relaxing atmosphere. The crabmeat cheesecake appetizer was awesome. My wife enjoyed her Pasta St. Charles and I lived the Peppered Duck. Definitely will eat here again on our next visit to New Orleans.

The Palace is a happy, convivial space with dining on two floors. We sat upstairs, my wife and me comfortably together on a banquette. Our waitress did a great job, hobbled a bit by slow performance of the bar. The list of wines by the glass is unimpressive; there is a good variety of grapes and regions but examples of each are mid-shelf at best. We were not offered a list of wines by the bottle so I can't comment, but we didn't plan to drink more than a glass anyway. The food is very well-prepared. I'd say the appetizer (fried green tomato caprese) and sides (two different vegetables) were outstanding, my duck entree perfectly good but unexceptional. The rum cake for dessert was flavorful and sweet but a touch dry inside. (I'll note that the bannanas foster prepared at the next table looked and smelled spectacular.) Pacing of the meal was spot on. Overall a very pleasand dining experience which would be enhanced with a better wine program.
