There was lineup the host was absent to greet us for our reservation. Eventually we were greeted with ‘you have a 1 hour time limit’, for Christmas dinner (a special occasion). The server wasn’t trained properly, made multiple mistakes, including not giving gluten free soy sauce after we clearly mentioned the allergy, not taking our drink order (we had to call her back), not putting in the correct order (the manger made a bit of a mends by not charging us for the wrong one), and when the chef’s special arrived (it’s not specific on the menu which fish are being served), it was just dropped with no explanation as to what was what (thankfully we figured it out on our own). Also when we ordered the Oshi stating the gluten allergy, the server said ‘yes they are gluten free’, without mentioning that in order to make it so they would have to serve it without the sauce - which is kind of the point of the dish, otherwise it was just an overpriced square nigiri. We ordered 2 matcha crème brûlée, one where the sugar top wasn’t glassed correctly (it was soft and didn’t break), plus both of them were curdled (from not being baked correctly). We’re understanding how busy the holidays can be, and especially grateful for having places open on Christmas Day since we can’t be with our families, but this was a pretty brutal experience. Maybe we have high expectations, but being Vancouver in the middle of Yaletown, we certainly didn’t expect how poor the experience would be. Our drinks were nice though. Oh, and for a place that literally has “Oshi” in their title, why are there only two oshi options? Should that be a staple of the menu? Really odd.

We are newer to town and wanted to do something different on Christmas as we don’t have family in town. We chose Oshi Nori because it gets pretty good reviews, we hadn’t been there yet and it was open. The sushi was very good and we would go again. The one thing we didn’t care for was being told we had a limit on our time (1 hour) after we arrived. It’s hard to enjoy a meal out in an hour and it felt overly rushed. This should have been made clear when we made our reservation so we could have decided otherwise.

Was seated late (very understandable, around 8 minutes) and was asked to cancel some of the items in the second order because our seats were reserved after our time slot. While completely understandable, it did not feel the nicest after having our item from the first order forgotten. I was not aware of the 1 hour seating, but I am certain there was a notification somewhere. I usually don't dine for 1 hour, but items were served with delays in-between causing the dining time to be extended. I actually preferred the delay, and would order the right portion from the start next time. Seating issue was completely understandable, just all unfortunate timing with order being missed.

Like an upscale version of Hello Nori with substantially more choices of fresh seafood for your hand tools. Splurged on negitoro/uni, snow crab, unagi, spicy lobster and scallop fillings. Very crisp seaweed. About $140 for two people with a 20% tip. Excellent service.

Our family of four including my 8 yrs old had dinner during Thanksgiving holiday. As a tourist from San Jose and grew up in Japan, Oshi Nori is a great sushi restaurant. Much more authentic and reasonable than the ones in San Jose. Everyone served us are friendly and helpful. They have vegetarian choices such as cucumber roll, egg roll, mushroom roll and edamame that my little one enjoyed. I strongly recommend this place.

Food was great, everything was fresh and made in front of you. But our server was not paying attention and duplicated my wife's order instead of our two different orders. Because some of the items we ordered were the same, and some of the things I ordered were new to me and therefore didn't know what to expect, we did not notice until they gave us the same exact cut sushi roll and the same nigiri order. The server told us it was her first day, which we would understand if she hadn't been stuck flirting with two guys sitting next to us, while her manager did all the work. But the manager was more than willing to fix the our food issue which was great, but we opted not to. All in all, we'd go back, just need a more attentive server.
