Best French Restaurant in Tennessee 2023!
Best Restaurant in Nashville 2022!
Set in a cozy 1920's Parisian Bistro décor, "Once Upon A Time In France" is all Francophiles and food lovers have ever dreamed of:
*Friendly small neighborhood bistro,
*Authentic traditional French Food,
*Over 75 French wines, European beers, and delicious beverages carefully selected!

The concept is our country’s favorite: a Bistro.
A french Bistro is usually a quaint and cozy neighborhood restaurant serving traditional cuisine.
But it is also usually loud, people sit close to each other, it may be hard to make your way through the restaurant, there may be servers and busers running everywhere.
We do not claim to be a fine dining establishment nor claim to have a “new cuisine” type of food, but we can guarantee that we are the only true, authentic French Restaurant in Nashville, and we guarantee that you will have a great evening in our unique little corner of France!

Bon appétit!

Our waitress forgot to put in our entree and even when we told her she still didn’t address the issue. We ended up having to leave without eating the meal, she did send it to go but it completely ruined our date night experience.

For being outside of France and inside the national capital of fried foods, this was a treat to realize simple dishes can be absolutely fantastic. Recommend the trout and cheese plate with French beer.

This is one of our favorite places to go to. We have been there with friends who have never been to France and we assure them just how authentic it feels. I would highly recommend Once Upon a Time in France to anyone wanting to experience great French cuisine with a staff that is friendly, informative, and appreciative.

Once Upon a Time in France was a culinary delight. Everyone enjoyed their meals with no exception. The waiter was superb, a lovely Frenchman who chatted happily with us and the hostess came by several times to be sure we were happy and enjoying ourselves. We were there for a special occasion and a wonderful night was had by all. The chef is clearly a master in the kitchen. There was a bit of a misunderstanding when some of our party arrived, apologies were made and a complimentary round of champagne was brought to our table and the evening went on with great satisfaction! We enjoyed amazing cocktails, escargot, duck, steak and mousse for dessert just to name a few things we had...Superbe!

We enjoyed our appetizers (cheese board, salami, pâté) and the cocktails were spot on. Good wine selection, reasonably priced. Bubbly and a St. Joseph were excellent, but our bottle of Mercurey smelled strongly of acetate and was undrinkable. Cassoulet and beef bourguignon were very good. Both Steak frites orders were ordered medium but came out virtually raw. Dessert menu is limited but very good. Service started strong, but trailed off as our meal progressed.

Bonjour Mr Shackleford, thank you for taking the time to review our establishment. So glad you enjoyed your time with us! I am sorry to hear the steak did not come at your specified temperature -your server would have been more than happy to correct this for you rapidly. The Cellier des Dames Mercurey rouge is an excellent choice, especially to accompany a Boeuf bourguignon -maybe getting you a different glass would have helped? -Your server would have loved to make things right on the day for you. We look forward to hosting your next dinner out and making this a wonderful experience on all levels!

Chef Laurent and his staff were so attentive and friendly! Both the steak frites and trout almandine were delicious but we absolutely loved the pate’. With a bottle of Beaujolais our dinner cost was very reasonable. We’ll be returning again for the French Onion soup, more pate’, and wine!

Merci Diane for your sweet review! The pâté is definitely a favorite around here - can't argue with Chef's grandmother's recipe! We loved hosting your dinner and hope you will consider dining with us again on your next visit to Nashville!
