   Beautiful location, friendly waitress and delicious food. Only drawback was length of time to get our food. Otherwise, fantastic!

   This was our second time dining at the Noyo Harbor Inn. The first was for brunch a few months ago. On that occasion, we had a wonderful experience, so decided to come for dinner. This is a lovely venue with a nice variety of great food and reasonable prices. We had reservations for 6:45 PM on Saturday evening. On this visit, the server advised us that the kitchen was behind, however, it even took at least 15 minutes for her to bring our cocktails. We waited a long time for each course to be served, too, and wouldn't see our server for quite awhile during the evening, so I'm not sure if it was just the kitchen, or if she was behind as well. I heard her offer the table next to us complimentary dessert because of the delay (it was a large party of approximately 8 people), but she did not offer that to us (party of 2), which seemed a little surprising since we were there for over 2 hours. We had the Flash Fried Brussels Sprouts for an appetizer and they were amazing! I had the Stuffed Petrale Sole and it was delicious and cooked just right. My son had the Rack of Lamb, which he said was also really good. The venue is a beautiful place overlooking the Noyo Harbor. We had a choice of being seated indoors or out, but because it was chilly & raining, we opted to eat inside. The hostess said there were heaters outside, but we didn't check. We will probably try again hoping that this was a one-off experience. The food is exceptional and the ambiance is nice. If you go during daylight, the grounds are beautiful as well.

   We were so disappointed with our experience at the NHI restaurant. I'll start by acknowledging my dubious decision to eat out on Christmas - this was the first (and probably last) time I've eaten there, and it may not reflect a typical evening. I booked dinner for our family because the restaurant has good ratings, mentions gluten-free options (we have 2 kids with celiac disease), and was open on Christmas. OpenTable did not inform me that Christmas dinner was a prix fixe menu - $90 per person, but I did discover this in advance on the restaurant's web site - I called and was told there would be ample gluten-free options, so we decided to go and enjoy the meal. When we entered the dining room, I was immediately struck by how cold it was - the door to the patio was wide open to facilitate service. After sitting for several minutes, I realized it was too cold to eat comfortably, so I mentioned it to one of the waitstaff and asked if they could close the door. Instead she offered me a blanket, despite the fact that many diners were sitting in their parkas and it was clearly an issue. This was just the first major glitch. We ordered 2 drinks from the bar, which were not served until the 3rd course. The tomato soup tasted like drinking pasta sauce out of a jar. The 3rd course was described as a pear salad - it had no pears, and was overdressed in a sickly sweet dressing. Then they forgot my entree - it was apparently never ordered - and scrambled to bring me a substitute only after everyone else at the table had finished eating. I told our waiter, César (who was very kind), that I appreciated that working on the holiday must be challenging but that the dinner had been lacking in many ways. He arranged to comp my meal, which assuaged me a bit, but nobody else acknowledged the deficiencies in any other way. Worst of all, it created a lot of family stress since our sensitive teenagers were mortified that we complained about the dismal service & ambience and mediocre food.
