   Excellent starters and perfectly cooked medium rare mains. The food quality was perfectly complimented by even better service from Alyssa and the team. Looking forward to our next Nioka experience.

   The Bistecca alla Fiorentina was absolutely delicious, as was the side dish we chose. The cocktails were well-made and enjoyable. However, the service did not quite match the restaurant’s price point. From the moment we were seated, we experienced multiple abrupt interruptions, which made us feel rushed to place our order. While we understand that the restaurant is relatively new and staff may still be in training, the overall service felt inconsistent and below expectations. A particular concern arose when settling the bill—our server stated the total out loud, which I found unprofessional. When treating someone to a special occasion, such as a birthday dinner, I prefer discretion, without nearby tables or the rest of my table overhearing the final amount. We’re undecided about returning. The food was excellent, so it may simply be a matter of giving the restaurant a few more months to refine its service before considering another visit.

   Review: Nioka Falls Short of Expectations Nioka was our choice for a special occasion - our 21st wedding anniversary - but unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to the occasion. Upon arrival, we waited five minutes before anyone acknowledged us, despite having a reservation. Once seated, it became clear that the restaurant layout was oddly unbalanced. One side of the space was packed uncomfortably close, while the other remained nearly empty apart from one couple who sat in the far corner. Service was a consistent issue throughout the night. After being seated, we received some sourdough, but it was another 30 minutes before anyone returned to take our order and only after my wife had to flag someone down. While the waitress provided detailed menu explanations to other tables, she skipped this entirely for us. We ordered a glass of wine and a beer, but neither arrived. It later became evident that our waitress had simply forgotten to put the order through. By the time our food arrived - another 25 to 30 minutes later - a different waitress asked if we wanted drinks. After explaining the mix-up, we finally received two glasses of wine, despite one of us ordering beer. As for the food, the steaks were well-prepared but came with a steep price tag. My 300g fillet was $115, while my wife’s petite butcher’s cut, aptly named, was $50. Since steaks arrived unaccompanied by sides, we added three ($12 each), all of which were nice. While the quality was solid, I’ve had comparable steaks at other Newcastle restaurants for half the price. It was clear that service issues were apparent throughout the restaurant last night. The neighbouring diners never received half of their order, and their frustration was evident. Overall, Nioka failed to justify its fine-dining prices with the level of service provided. For a better experience at a more reasonable price, I’d recommend Meat & Grain in Honeysuckle instead.

   The most delicious steak I have ever eaten. Succulent and so tender. Cooked to perfection. Elegant fine dining. Wait staff knew the menu in and out and were extremely professional.

   Great service Great food Great ambience Ran out of coffee beans, that is a disappointment for a high- restaurant. Making espresso Martini with coffee syrup is not the same specially when paying Sydney City prices

   Outstanding weekend lunch service & our waiter knew the wine / food menu inside out. The quality of food was amazing and Nioka really play to their strengths. It was an absolute pleasure dining here with our good friends, and we will definitely be back.

   This restaurant is beautiful. The food is exceptional, and the steaks are first-class. The cocktails are flirty and fun. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Overall, we had an amazingly delicious dinner. Congratulations to all involved; this is a wonderful establishment.
