Having eaten at the Chubby Cattle BBQ, Mikiya, and Wagyu House by the X Pot, I'm a fan of the Chubby Cattle Restaurant Group so this review is tough for me to write because my expectations were high, especially given how difficult it was to secure a reservation here and the $149/person price point. Long story short: This place is good as a one-time experience. Raw bar was only OK,--everything is salty except the sashimi and lobster, you do not get to cook your own meat (which means you will not be able to control the tempo / pace at which you eat or eat it "fresh" off the grill), A5 Wagyu ribeye, top blade, and tomahawk are OK, but nothing stands out especially given the $149 price point. The one area I'd like to highlight is the amazing service. The whole staff is friendly, fast, helpful and warm! The details: The raw bar was just OK, the California King Crab (which looks like a mini version of the Alaska King crab) was very salty, the sashimi and lobster tails were solid, and the remaining items such as the fried chicken, salad, were OK but not what you're paying $149 for. At the $149 price point, you will not get to cook your own meat which means that the food may come out lukewarm (like it did for us). The Tomahawk, A5 ribeye, A5 top blade were good but nothing that would make me want to come back again for. The A5 round top was very dry and I do not recommend ever ordering this. The small plates that are a must-try include the miso Chilean Sea Bass, oxtail potstickers, and katsu sando.

We were not aware of the following: no more sashimi platter, no more raw oysters, and no more scallops. Also you have to specifically reserve a table with a grill if you want to cook yourself and grab ur own wagyu. The dry aged tomahawk was very good and the lobster was fantastic. I would recommend just doing the 99/109 dollar buffet experience because the 139/149 wasn’t that much more elevated. The deserts are not palatable. Service was really poor because it seemed our server was stretched a little thin.

If the King Crab cut half to be served, that will be perfect. It’s almost impossible to cut and eat them

So I just wanna start this review by saying the service was amazing. We really did love the Manager's and the waitstaff, they were super awesome and accommodating. Unfortunately, after having a plate of grilled oysters, I ended up getting sick and having to go excuse myself to the restroom. I would try foods here and there after, but the food was slightly cold and just wasn't really appealing to me and my fiancé's taste. he's a huge person on not wasting food so he didn't really care for it all but still ate it but we ended up finishing our time early and on our ride home he also ended up getting sick in the car.. the food wasn't up to our taste. It felt like there was just lacking there of and that's OK like maybe it just wasn't a cup of tea.. I think every plate we had was just not that good to us, and that opinion, however, when we look at all the tables around us, everyone else seem to be enjoying their food, but nothing really felt amazing and we just watched videos off of Instagram and we were kinda just disappointed. Just from the Wagyu we've had previously this one just had a little bit more fat, and it was a little bit more tough to chew which usually ones that we've had in Japan and the US usually tends to just melt in our mouths. Also, our Tomahawk, where you kind of came to the table a little bit cold . The sushi that the chef sent out was better than the one that's obviously at the buffet, but we did keep trying every plate after even the managers recommendation and I think out of everything our favorite was just the potato cube. Again, though just the way that all of the employees were supportive and trying really hard to give us something that we would like I really appreciate it. That's why I'm giving them just an amazing shout out even though we didn't care for the food. I generally loved the weight staff and how attentive they were to taking care of us so thank you!

Rately do I post a glowing review of restaurants, but @nikuxla will be getting one. From host, server (thank you, Wilson), to details: A+ King crab 🦀 legs were so fresh, that when you pulled the shell from on end, the crab meat slides off the shell of the other. We were most impressed by the Wagyu Udon, which had the exact Al Dente texture and taste, with the coated level of wagyu meat sauce around the veggies, noodles, and overall. Serving was correct for 2 people per order. Would have loved to have tried the fresh scallops (which were not available upon our visit). But the lobsters were adequate to adjust our attention, along with the King crab and Snow crab legs. Sashimi was constantly being topped off, and the ponzu and soy were good quality. The toro and hamachi were good quality cuts, and not veiny. Wagyu Japan and American options were a variety of 5 different choices. We were impressed with the quality. We also tried the Chilean sea bass (not hugely impressed), the Miso Corn (very good), Wagyu Black Pepper Don (average), but our Lamb Lollipop Katsu was our chef cooked favorite. Wilson was excellent. He provided us with a special cheesecake that was not available to the public, and we will definitely return for this reason. Thank you. Overall for the $99 price tag, we would consider returning. Our experience was the day before Xmas. I specifically requested a table with a grill, and was provided exactly the table. Would not ask for more. We will return. Thank you again.

Not enough disclosure for need to ask for table with grill. Disappointed to be seated at one without a grill. Meats the were grilled for us arrived cold and not at the temperature requested. We requested all our meats to be medium rare. Majority came medium well. Scallops and foie gras not available as advertised. Preordered tomahawk that was not served. Couldn’t even get linens. For this type of establishment, linens were expected, not napkins.
