   Scallops were raw! The server took them back to the kitchen. The initial dish had three scallops. I cut into and bit into one and realized it was raw so didn’t eat it. They re-cooked the scallops and served a scallop and a half (overcooked and chewy this time). I guess they didn’t feel the need to re-cook three new ones.

   The food is good but wish it was better for the price. If you like heavy, rich, old-school fine dining, this is the place. I do recommend the menu in the Kicking Horse Lounge though. Had the best grilled cheese of my life!

   Two years ago we had the best experience and that’s why we went back. This time service was below average, we didn’t feel as important as some of the other guests. When we asked for recommendations on the menu our server pretty much repeated the menu. Dinner was ok, well cooked but no wow factor as last time. Breakfast was a waste, a buffet which is not what I would expect for the price and everything was cold. When we told our server she said she would check, like we would lie about it. She returned and confirmed we were right and offered to microwave the food on our plates. The coffee was like mud, I love my coffee bold but it was horrible, I had to ask repeatedly to refill the creamer to help make it palatable but eventually gave up. Emerald Lake is a great place for the views the lodge is the place where you go to bring the experience to the next level. We left disappointed staff seemed grumpy and not interested in the guests. We will return as we are hopeful that this was a one off. There are signs asking people not to bring their own food and drinks. For the price the lodge needs to step up to the plate and bring the experience over the top. They did not have many guests so we were unsure why it lacked the quality it boasts about.

   The Chef's creations are outstanding. We had the rack of lamb and the buffalo ribeye, both dishes were incredible.

   When in Rome, do as the Romans do and when staying at Emerald Lake Lodge for an extremely special occasion, go ahead and splurge at the Mount Burgess Dining Room. We enjoyed our recent stay as well as an evening meal in the MBDR. However, still struggling to feel it was good value for the money spent.

   Had an absolutely fantastic meal. My elk and my husband’s bison were cooked to perfection. We like our meat cooked rare and most restaurants tend to cook it medium rare but the Mount Burgess restaurant cooked the meat to our liking. Was delicious. Service was outstanding, so friendly.

    Food was great, cocktails were delicious. Lovely ambiance. Service was a bit slow but otherwise it was an enjoyable dinner
