Set at the end of a tranquil tidal creek on the Salcombe estuary, the Millbrook Inn is a hidden haven for those who enjoy good food, great wine and a pint of local ale.

The Millbrook Inn has a long-standing reputation as one of Devon's best gastro pubs. We take great care to source the finest local ingredients from land and sea, including from our own farm, and we prepare them simply and with love.

Our home - the idyllic village of South Pool – is easy to reach from Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Totnes. When the tide is right, it’s only a short boat trip from Salcombe.

Whether by our homely fire or our babbling brook, we look forward to welcoming you to the Millbrook Inn very soon.

The Millbrook does has a good reputation for food locally. Sadly Our night was a real let down. I rang to confirm there would be Gluten Free options available. The maître d' billed the evening as a special 'Friday Night Pie Night' event with their signature pies and confirmed there would be a GF option. On arrival the place was empty apart from a few locals in the bar area. Turns out it was pie night because the chef was away for the weekend. The beef pie was fine, quite tasty but overly salty. The vegetarian pie was minuscule and cold (which they did remove from the bill without asking TBF). And the GF cottage pie filling was so salty it was almost inedible. Mash and chips sides but not a green vegetable in site. The service was weird, especially as we were the only diners there all evening. And when the locals left the music went off for about 15 minutes so we sat and ate our pies in silence! A good example of why a gastropub should never say "we're not NOT doing food." Just open for drinks and don't trash your reputation. May return in the summer for a pint in the garden but probably won't eat there again.

Roast beef was overcooked and very small serving. Smoked salmon was lovely. I am dairy intolerant and advised this at the time of booking but no alternative to the dairy items were offered eg no cauliflower prepared without cheese sauce no puddings that were adaptable on the menu I was halfheartedly offered what I can only assume was a leftover from Christmas of mulled wine sorbet . Service was just too quick to enjoy a leisurely Sunday afternoon in the pub. As soon as we had put our cutlery down the plates were whisked away and the mains brought. We ordered a bottle of wine and this didn’t appear until after we had eaten our starters and had reminded the waitress we had ordered it. Lovely little pub with lots of potential but they just aren’t getting it quite right.

This is our favourite pub, we especially love a lazy Sunday after a long walk. Nothing better than a Millbrook Roast and some live music! The team are incredible, food delicious, fantastic drink selection and the perfect ambience! I've always wanted to gatekeep this little gem but it doesn't seem fair 🌟

A Gem of Hospitality and Flavor :) Millbrook is a true standout in the local dining scene. From the moment you walk through the doors, you’re greeted with a warm and genuine welcome that sets the tone for the experience ahead. The hosting is impeccable, striking the perfect balance between attentive service and allowing guests to enjoy their meals at their own pace. Every dish on the menu speaks to the care and thought that goes into sourcing the finest ingredients. The seasonal offerings ensure that every plate is as fresh as it is flavorful, showcasing the best of what Fowlescombe farm and producers have to offer. Whether it’s a classic pub favorite elevated with a modern twist or a more adventurous special, the flavors are consistently impressive. The atmosphere is equally inviting, blending traditional pub charm with a touch of contemporary comfort. It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy a relaxed meal with friends or celebrate a special occasion. It sets a high standard for what a pub experience should be: exceptional food, outstanding service, and an unmistakable sense of hospitality. A must-visit for anyone who appreciates quality in every sense of the word.

A professionally run and hospitable Gastropub with some interesting menu choices. Really enjoyed the complementary Bread and Beef dripping side. The food uses mostly local suppliers and is thoughtfully prepared and well presented. The price point is clearly targetting the well-heeled Salcombe set and although clearly this was once once a traditional village pub the atmosphere, decor and food is now more upmarket. A long and very enjoyable lunch at ~ £50 per head.
