Mermaid Oyster Bar is a family of casually sophisticated seafood restaurants born in New York in 2003.

Starting out in Manhattan’s East Village as a spot-on rendition of a casual New England fish shack, The Mermaid Inn has morphed into an American seafood brasserie, replete with style, hospitality and a menu marked by bold and seasonally inspired cuisine.     Food was very good overall. Burger was fantastic, linguine and clams were ok - too much lemon. Chowder very good. Cool look and vibe. Good value with fair price. Would definitely return and recommend.

    The oysters are a joke. We got six minuscule flavorless garbage oysters at $3.50 a pop. This is not the mermaid oyster bar of years gone by.  Our entrées were fine. The cocktails were delicious.

    From the cocktails to the food, this was such a little surprise place we ended up at the end of the day after a broadway matinee! The oysters were superb as well as the wrapped crab rolls, tuna tar tar and shrimp cocktail. Servers were very pleasant and professional. Will definitely go back to this restaurant in the future!

    Excellent experience. Good food and selection. We were there on a Sunday midafternoon. Very quiet, but people started trickling in and by the time we left a very comfortable crowd. In the theater district, so before and after the show is a good choice. Most importantly, the bathrooms were immaculate!

    We loved the wait staff and the atmosphere BUT the food was the best part! So delicious and didn't disappoint in any way! This place is a GREAT seafood spot!
