   For a special meal downtown, I would recommend Mercat. The dining room is lovely. Classy, but not stuffy. Very attentive, friendly, yet professional, service. We dined at a leisurely pace and had time to chat without having to raise our voices. We enjoyed a variety of beautifully prepared, small plates, but the larger entrees sounded scrumptious, too.

   Amazing Spanish food. We love going to Mercat whenever we do a Chicago downtown weekend. The service was very attentive too.

   Overall a great evening. The tapas and drinks were great. Loved the octopus. The space is very nice, large volume with a cool history dating back to 1910.

   We dined with another couple. I can’t list everything we had - it’s a tapas place, after all, and we ordered a substantial number of dishes - but everything was exceptionally good. Service was friendly and efficient, and our server gave us a good wine recommendation. We’ve been here before and will definitely return.

   Just a delightful evening meal - perfect before any show at the nearby Auditorium Theater. The server immediately asked if we were headed to the theatre after dinner - so that the meal would be properly placed. The food was creative; the server was helpful in advising us so we didn't get too much or too little, tapas style menu. Highly recommend!
