Eight years ago, Maximo Bistrot started as a restaurant for the thinking and execution of dishes from a wide range of techniques with the best of local ingredients; a warmful place that communicated our love for food. After a long and heartwarming road at our current location, we thought for the need of moving. Our new home, located at Alvaro Obregon 65 bis - a much wider space where gleams of natural light shine upon the surface-, is carefully assembled by Gabriela's meticulous look, and a kitchen built within Eduardo García's early memories, while living as an inmigrant in a barn in Ohio. Despite this big change, our principles initially founded remain the same: to offer food that distinguishes the best of local products.

From the OpenTable editors: This French bistro has dazzled CDMX for over 11 years. Led by chef Eduardo García, it offers a farm-to-table concept with influences from his childhood. The menu includes fresh seafood from Baja California, meats, and game birds. All of this is enjoyed in a bright, spacious setting, cared for by Gabriela López. Its quality and freshness, along with its stylish intimacy, make it a must-visit for food lovers.

Food was excelent! However, one of the members of my party had allergies that were brought out on the plate many times. When asked if they could make it again, they said that they would, however, they charged us for the plates that came out with her allergens as well. No bread was brought out for our table but everybody else got bread. We had to wait to get seated and were offered a cocktail while we waited, but we didnt realizex we would be charged. We thought it as a sign of hospitality because we had to wait an extra 20 minutes for the table we reserved months in advance.

We did the tasting menu with wine and it was so thoughtfully done! It was so great, just the right amount of food. We will definitely come back next visit.

Lovely ambience with a small but delicious assortment of food and cocktails. Extensive wine list. French rose and Mexican red were both fantastic. Boston/NY prices but worth it.

It was good, not exceptional - apps were good, portions large. Wine was expensive, drinks well balanced. Service was ok.

The food is just incredible. We had a mango cocktail that was light and delicious. For entres, the red snapper, eggplant, and oxtail tagliatelle were all superb. The goat milk ice cream with guava paste was stupendous as well. Overall, a great dining experience and truly worth the price. So glad we went

Massively overpriced and pretty mediocre cooking. I have eaten in more than ten of the 50 Best Restaurants in Latin America, several Michelin starred places around the world and everywhere from street tacos de tripa and birria joints to multi course tasting menus in Mexico over the last few months. This was one of the most disappointing meals I've had in a long time. The starters were good especially the gooseneck barnacle aguachile which had nicely balanced flavours even though the guacamole was unserseasoned and there was no sign of the maracuja. However, both the platos fuertes were very poor. The wagyu cross tongue was cooked sous vide to a mush and the mole lacked any interest or complexity. The stone crab rigatoni was just awful. Bland sauce that tasted tinned, with cheap supermarket pasta that was overcooked. Maybe an okay dish for a cheap cenudaria or mid-range Italian joint but completely unacceptable for 890 MXN. The ambience was fine but the service was unfortunately atrocious. Sadly the first time I've had to mention it to the staff in three long trips to Mexico. Avoid - there's much much better food available in this amazing country.

We were overall disappointed, probably because we had such a high expectation going in. I really thought this would be one of the best meals and experiences we've had all year, but it was not. Our hospitality and attention to us throughout our Mexico City weekend (at other restaurants, hotel, tour) had been SO good, that we were surprised that this top restaurant was more concerned about our fork being straight than being concerned about our desires. We arrived in time and were told to wait in the lounge and given a cocktail menu. We were perfectly willing and eager to order cocktails, but nobody ever returned to take our order. After about 10 minutes, we were shown to our table, a nice quiet spot for our party of 4 in the back corner. Sommelier came up shortly after, but we had not even acclimated to menu yet or ordered cocktails, so we delayed him. Never saw him again. Service was okay from this point on, but not over the top. They were polite but didn't give us the feeling that they were really glad to have us. Food was good/very good, but not remarkable. We had better meals at much less fancy places in town. Hopefully, it was just an off night for Maximo.
