   We sat down, and it took 15 minutes before anyone took our drink order or brought some bread, despite tons of staff milling around. The food was mostly good, but my steak was overcooked, and for that price it should be right. I asked for MR and got MW. By the time the waiter came back to check on the table, everyone else was almost done with their meals. They remade my steak, but it was way undercooked (room temp) in the middle. I ate it because I was hungry and didn’t want to wait for them to take another try at it. For the price, I expected much better service and food.

   My friends and I had a wonderful dining experience at Mastro’s to celebrate my friend James’s birthday. The atmosphere was elegant and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a special occasion. The wagyu meatballs were slightly undercooked for my taste, possibly due to my preference for a different beef type. That said, the sea bass stole the show, it was absolutely exceptional, the best I’ve ever had at any restaurant. The sides were also perfectly prepared. The staff and management did a good job of touching our table, checking in to ensure we had a great experience. For dessert, we were treated to the buttercake as part of the birthday celebration. My daughter had highly recommended it, and it lived up to the hype. We all had a fantastic time, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

   Finally dined at Mastro’s Chicago. The atmosphere was great. The hostess Mariana was welcoming, courteous and professional. Our waitress Jung was fabulous. The food was excellent as usual. I have dined at most all of the Mastro’s in California, Arizona and Nevada. If you have not dined at a Mastro’s yet, treat yourself and book a reservation.

   With so many great steakhouses in Chicago - you’ll be better off going somewhere else. My filet mignon was overcooked and tasted gamey. It is super noisy, rundown decor and we got our food about 5 minutes after ordering which felt rushed. We didn’t mind because we wanted to leave but felt like a fast food place. Terrible ambience. All around a really bad experience.

   El restaurante muy bonito, la comida espectacular! El Porter House estuvo deliciosos, y los esquites son un “must”, el butter cake inmejorable, de los mejores lugares!

   This place is so strange, they have a dress code but only selectively enforce. I was chased down by a tall intimidating guy just to tell me to remove my hat, and meanwhile a guy in dirty jeans and a flannel walks right and the door goon does the even bat an eye. I’m wearing head to toe Giorgio Armani and I’m the one getting harassed?? Also, the Brussels sprouts were undercooked, the potatoes were good, the steak was cooked way under what I asked for and the peppercorn sauce didn’t have one peppercorn in it and tasted like flour and not much more.

   So glad we were able to get a reservation during this Christmas season. The food , service and ambience were amazing. The decor and holiday decorations were stellar. Wonderful experience.

    As always food and service was wonderful. Joe and Gigi made things special. Getting robbed in the bar ruined the evening.
