   Normally we rave about Marmo to all that will listen. Today we went in for lunch and brought some friends who have never been. Our waiter was friendly, but it took him more than 30 minutes each time to tend to the table. 30 minutes between a water and our first cocktail, every time. The squid ink pasta and oysters were delicious as always, but almost everything else left flavoring to be desired. The lamb risotto was cooked well, but the flavor was inedible. The steak came out warm and on a cold platter. We asked how the temperature of the platter prior to ordering and we were told hot. This lead us to believe the steak sat while the pasta was prepared. We grabbed a manager to help us track down our waiter after a large gap in time had elapsed. The manager was able to send him over 5-10 minutes later and did not inquire any further on what assistance may be required. All and all, it was such an unpleasant experience that none of us will visit again, which is sad, as Marmo has always been our go to.

   second time coming here for a birthday, the food and service are always amazing and the birthday treat is just the cherry on top.

   We had a fantastic meal! There were 5 of us and we ordered a variety of appetizers and entrees. The fried chicken and meatball appetizers were delicious ! My husband ordered the spinach gnocchi that was SO good that table ended up sharing it. He also ordered the Halibut alla Pescatora - very fresh and flaky. He loved it and is really picky about fish. Two people ordered the beef tenderloin which was cooked to perfection. Another guest loved the squid ink Campanella- I didn’t taste it but will take his word that it was really good. I ordered the chicken Marsala- , a dish I always love. It had fantastic flavor but will say it was a bit on the salty side. We were celebrating a birthday and ordered 2 tiramisus- the best way to end the night! Our server Valerie gave us just the right amount of attention. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and made great suggestions. We will definitely ask for her next time we go! Amanda, the manager, was aware that we were celebrating and made a point to check in on us to make sure everything was great. We just had a great experience all the way around!

   We had a great experience. Had oysters and tartare at the happy hour followed by dinner, which included the bolognese, gnocchi and squid ink pasta. The food was outstanding. The service was slow but that was the only issue.

   I adore Marmo. Always have a lovely experience whether it be for a casual lunch or a nice dinner out. This is my go-to spot to bring guests when they come to Houston. My favorite dishes are the hamachi and the vodka rigatoni- also tried the New York strip last night and it was amazing. Christian was our server last night and he was lovely! There’s so many great restaurants in Houston that I don’t usually frequent any specific spots- Marmo is the exception. I always come back!
