By Renowned Mexican Chef, Enrique Olvera, Manta is the culinary centerpiece of The Cape, A Thompson Hotel. With an intriguing double meaning, the manta ray symbolizes the kitchen"s focus on seafood, while manta, the Spanish word for blanket, conveys the chef's emphasis on comfort. Acknowledge by the New York Times for his "way of confirming and subverting expectations of Mexican food at the same time," Olvera has drawn inspiration from the izakaya tradition to introduce a pan-Pacific concept of Mexican cuisine. The intimate, richly textured space features a dramatic exhibition kitchen and a curated beverage menu focused on mezcals, tequilas and sakes.

The view and ambiance at The Cape is amazing. The service was very good and fitting for a high end experience without being overbearing. We had the 4 course tasting experience at Manta. The seafood dishes were not good. Some were fishy tasting and not a great texture. The boa buns were tasty. The main dish fish had good flavor but was over cooked. The steak and the rice that accompanied it were very good and it was the only dish we enjoyed. The desserts were terrible. A chocolate flan was inedible and the shave ice over ice cream was just something that we don’t enjoy in general. They offered us a different dessert which was an appropriate offer but we declined. My husband enjoyed his cocktails. I usually only drink wine but they were charging $50+ USD for a single glass of mediocre wines. I had tea instead which was very good. Overall, I’d say go for the view and ambiance and order just a few dishes.

Amazing meal with excellent service. It’s definitely pricey but a great choice for a special occasion or for a more fine dining experience vs. other Cabo restaurants. There’s not a lot on the menu for younger children so don’t bring them. Follow the wait staff recommendations on what to order! Good options for vegetarians!

Second visit in two years. Beautiful restaurant with great service. Dishes were hit ‘n miss. Ceviche was outstanding; fish tacos were a disappointment; other dishes were good.

The food, ambience and service are all excellent but I was not expecting Manhattan prices. Shows what I know for sure but $240 for Napanook Cabernet?

Manta is the epitome of luxury dining. The views, the service, the food, the restaurant ambiance, all were nothing short of exceptional. Our server had the perfect balance of checking in and did not disturb us. The restaurant itself was beautiful with an ambience that truly gave the luxury dining experience. Kudos to the chefs, the food was absolutely ecstatic, perfectly described, and beat expectations of taste. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience, the food, the views, and thank you to the staff of The Cape Hotel for extraordinary service to us. Will be back most definitely!

The food menu price was an incredible deal. I was kind of surprised the non-‘premium’ wine tasting was more than the food. Definitely worth it, great experience!

On a second visit to Manta, the experience was stellar as experienced 2-3 years earlier. Elegant space, food of the highest caliber, attentive and friendly service. For a serious foodie, this is a 10+.
