   We were vacationing in Daytona Beach Shores and celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. We wanted to try a different restaurant that had steaks instead of going to the usual Texas Roadhouse, Outback, etc... Malibu Grill had a decent rating so thought we would try it. They stuck us in the back of the restaurant by where they stack extra chairs even though they knew this was a special occasion for us. The waitress was friendly. We started with the spinach/artichoke dip. It came pretty quickly. However, while eating I had to remove a piece of hard plastic from my mouth. We told our waitress about it. We proceeded to order our dinners. We were celebrating so we both ordered Filet Mignon (which we hardly ever do) baked potato, creamed spinach with one dinner and sautéed spinach on the other. The waitress returned and said they only had one baked potato left. So my husband took a different side. Then the waitress returned and said another waitress had stolen the baked potato for another couple. She said it would be about 40 minutes for another. I was ready to pay for what we had eaten and leave. She hurriedly got a manager. He was not as friendly. I showed him the piece of plastic and he said yeah, that's plastic but don't know how that would have gotten in there, as we make it fresh?! Okay. but it was in there. Yes, my husband hates to see anything wasted so he ate the rest of the dip. Manager made a comment about that. We were not asking for anything, just wanted to let them know about it. He said he would take that off our bill. He said they would try to hurry up the potatoes. My husband said how do you run out of baked potatoes at dinner time? The manager said everybody wants baked potatoes today. We decided to stay. They brought the steaks out with the spinach sides and then half way through I got a baked potato. It just was not the dinner or night I wanted for our anniversary, sadly. Next time go to a steak restaurant!

Celebrating 50 years together is special, and we regret that the seating, plastic in the dip, and delays with the baked potato took away from that. We understand how frustrating this must have been, especially on such an important occasion. While we’re glad the manager addressed the issue with the dip, we know it wasn’t the evening you had hoped for.    Sunday Brunch. since we were going to a movie, we were the first customers in the restaurant. The server worked hard at being attentive although the food came out of the kitchen extremely slow. Eggs were hard fried when they arrived but the french toast was excellent. Service was terrific and menu prices were reasonable. There is an odd 1% surcharge on the bill which supposedly passes through to the landlord. We will go back and do recommend this restaurant, believing it was just a slow start on a holiday weekend

   Robin, I am actively working with the entire kitchen team to ensure that the ticket times are much faster! It has been brought to our attention a few times, so we are working for the better. The 1% surcharge, also known as the public infrastructure fee, is something that everyone that shops in the pavilion pays whether it be here, or Marshalls.     Good size portions, great Ribeye steak with nice seasoning and cooked appropriately at medium. sides of baked potato and creamed spinach were excellent. Price was very reasonable compared to other steakhouses I have visited.
