   Booked a table through Open Table, table was confirmed, granted it was a late booking but confirmation email received. Arrived at Mac Neills in time, was left standing at the bar for a long time before a bar man arrived to speak to us. The bar was untidy, lots of dirty glasses, used plates not being cleared away. I advised we had a booking I was told that a manager would come to us soon, left standing for about 10 mins. Another staff member asked if we were OK, I advised we had a booking and he said it was busy but we could try upstairs, I asked if he could check for us, he went off and returned to say the manager would be with us soon. Still left standing, with no advice about upstairs. Manager eventually came over to say that the booking we had was not in the system and couldn't do anything for us, when I said I had a confirmation email, he replied well it was only booked a half an hour ago and its a fault of the system and what could he do, but offered no assistance. I asked could we sit and eat and he pointed to a table and said you could sit there, it was not big enough in the middle of the room and was full of dirty glasses, we had booked for a meal. When I queried same, his reply was "well this is a pub" Staff were running around and one girl was visibly annoyed instructing colleagues to assist her and muttering "this is ridiculous" Not great customer service and experience. The pub wasn't being tidied quickly and while floor staff were running about those behind the bar were doing little to chip in and the fridges behind the bar were empty and not being re-stocked at that time. Granted the Christmas markets were on and the rugby but the level of rudeness from staff was very disappointing. We would not recommend or indeed return.

   Had a table booked for 2. Was seated by an unfriendly man and told menus would be brought to us. Menu’s never came!

   Food here is excellent, you can dine dinner or tapas and great value for money. Service however was shocking and the ' manager' very stressed despite the venue not being overly busy.

   We did not have the best experience at MacNeills - we got seated in a corner with no menus until we got someone’s attention almost 5 minutes later. We eventually got our order taken but no one ever checked on us. As I work in hospitality myself I understand the staff can be under pressure on a busy Friday evening however it shouldn’t have been a struggle to serve the amount of tables they had in at the time we were there. It’s a pity as we were really looking forward to our evening and the place itself is very cosy and the food is also good.

   Lovely spot for a quiet drink and board game! Didnt try the food so ignore that part of review!

   This spot was a nice find. We had the Irish Tapas including the Buffalo Cauliflower and nachos chips. For the main course the braised sandwich and the fried chicken sandwich. Both were delicious. They had traditional Irish music playing live which added nicely to the atmosphere. It was a very cozy spot on a rainy and windy evening.

   We had a great afternoon with delicious food and cocktails, and excellent service. Lovely ambience and decor, will definitely return
