Luke is a Creole-inspired Brasserie located in the heart of New Orleans’ Central Business District on world-famous St. Charles Avenue, steps from the French Quarter neighborhood. A lively atmosphere surrounds the raw bar offering the freshest seafood and oysters procured daily from the Gulf of Mexico. Chef Erick Loos is at the helm of the kitchen featuring dishes that highlight local purveyors and farmers’ market ingredients.                                                                         Been coming to Luke for years and totally disappointed this evening. Our server was absent, and absent minded, most of the evening. The food was sub par at best; over salted gumbo and over cooked burger. Had the server been attentive we may have had a chance to address our concerns but she was AWOL most of the evening, leaving us to call on other staff for basics, like condiments for example.

                                                                        We went for Christmas Dinner in the afternoon, the restaurant was full,. We had reservations and had to wait about 10 minutes for the table. The staff was great and responded to our needs quite well given that it was Christmas, The drinks were great especially the “Attitude Adjustment”. The food was outstanding. I ordered specked trout which came in a shrimp sauce. My wife ordered their steak frites which she loved. Our friend had the Oxtail dish which was also excellent. We will visit this restaurant again!

                                                                        We (7 of us) ate at Luke on Christmas Day. We were seated near the door which wasn’t ideal but wasn’t bad. The streetcar periodically going by made the noise level high because of our proximity to the door. The service was excellent in spite of it being a holiday and the restaurant being packed. The menu had nice variety. The two best items we had were the Crispy Brussel Sprouts and the Matzo Ball Soup. The worst thing we had was the Hanger Steak. It was ordered “medium” and came out bleeding. It was also rubbery. We returned it and that person ordered something else. They were completely okay with this and removed it from the bill. The Trout Almandine was good with the fish being extremely fresh. We recommend Luke and will return.
