Besides New Orleans/Cajun influences, Mediterranean & Italian cuisine is honored on Lou Lou’s menu. Just as gumbo is a favorite New Orleans dish, which combines many flavors of many different cuisines to make one amazing one. Lou Lou mixes these together to present a varied menu prepared with loving attention.

Lou Lou is consistently good with both food and service and tonight was no exception. My seasonal salad was fresh and flavorful, though I took off a star for value because the salmon on it was minuscule and the overall portion of the dish was pretty small (next time I will order the "large" for a few dollars more). My friend's salmon and salad were also tasty. But the real star tonight was our server, Jena. She was incredibly friendly and efficient, and made us feel so welcome - we lingered for a long time and she never made us feel rushed. She also brewed fresh decaf coffee for me. The person who seated us was also friendly and kind. The great staff at Lou Lou Food & Drink really take this place to the next level.

Lou Lou's is a fine neighborhood restaurant with a fine selection of entrées, beer and mixed drinks. My wife really enjoyed her gumbo. I ordered the salmon with snow peas. It's always delicious and, seasoned just right. You can get it as I prefer in olive oil or a special mango sauce. Either way you can't go wrong. Our visit today was on a Tuesday night, which means it was not overly crowded and appreciably quieter than on their busier nights.

Excellent food and service. Decor a little plain and dated but pricing very reasonable. Would recommend.

It was our first time to eat here. Everything was delicious - the Blue Cheese Polenta, Cajun Oysters, Jumbalaya and the Brownie with Roasted Marshmallow. We both left satiated! We had ordered a pizza to go but when it didn’t come and it wasn’t on the bill when it came, we decided not to wait any longer. I would eat here again.

I've been here many times. With one exception, pervious visits were all 5 stars. This time my only reason for not going five star on food and value was for the money the food portion of jambalaya seemed smaller and more watery than past. Still great flavor and the right amount of spiciness I expected.

Very fun girls’ night out! The service was friendly and attentive - and you can’t beat the scallops and 1/2 price wine bottles on Wednesday evenings! We always enjoy the pizza during the week, and the specials on the weekends! Wonderful bar!

Our server Jena was fabulous! She did a great job explaining things on the menu. The seasonal Blackberry Spritzer was fabulous . Portions are generous and the food was delicious. We were from out of town but if we lived in Louisville we would come to Lou Lou's often!

Lou Lou Cafe is a local gem for casual dining. Their specialties are Italian and New Orleans cajun. It has a very active bar separated from the main dining area. The acoustics, our best described as loud when they're busy. It is a small dining room that they have attempted to buffer the sound but not my satisfaction. There are a few very good entrées that remain standard on the menu. My favorite is Salmon with Snow peas. There are plenty of offerings for any Palatte. If you're looking for a nice casual place for dinner… It's a pretty good choice.

First time patron. I am very glad for having chosen Lou Lou; it was a unique experience that one hopes for when seeking a fun and different dining experience. First, a too brief note about service. Drew was outstanding - he was very knowledgeable of both food and drink offerings at LL and a pretty damn funny guy - kudos Drew. The aforementioned food and beverages were quite good. It IS possible to screw up an Old Fashioned - they didn't. I enjoyed the Bleu Cheese Polenta app (per menu, "topped with grilled asparagus, portabella mushrooms, red onions, bleu cheese crumbles, and roasted red pepper sauce"), the Cajun Dusted Oysters (per menu, "Pan Fried Oysters over our cheese grits w/ spring onions, crispy bacon, and our famous crawfish étouffée"), and the Bread Pudding (per menu, "Oven Baked Brioche Bread, Covered with Bourbon Vanilla Cream Sauce and Caramel"). My choices suited me and were spot on - the flavors were all at the same time bold, subtle, spicy, savory, and sweet. I learned that the original owner was from Louisville, moved to Louisiana, Katrina happened, then came home and opened LL, or something similar. Louisville, ya got a gem on your hands here.
