Chef Tom Bidios found himself lost in the Deep South of Northern America whilst travelling and there discovered his passion for the soulful food that is at its core. A cuisine that’s yet to be fully explored in Perth but is soulful, homely and undeniable delicious. Expect to not only experience things more familiar like Oysters, Wood fired meat, fried chicken & croquette’s … because that is just the beginning. Prawn & pimento grits with crispy pigs ears, devilled egg hash brown, Biscuit’s, braised green & fried green tomatoes, that is the Lo experience that will transport you for a few short hours to somewhere south. A back bar with some of the best whisky’s on offer and a small but curated cocktail & wine list to perfectly compliment the occasion. We encourage you to start your night at the bar, let the bartenders take you on a journey of how Lo become and all the things we do that make it great. We encourage long dinners that take you somewhere else if only for a short time.

    Lo’ restaurant has a charming atmosphere with lovely decorations and comfortable seating, making it an inviting space to dine. However, the food did not live up to expectations. We tried the fried chicken meal, but most of the sides fell short. The cornbread was dry, lacked flavour, and was a small portion for $14, with the maple butter tasting oddly like soy sauce. The fries were soggy and overly salted, and the mac and cheese was just okay. Although the coleslaw was good, it was a small serving, and the gravy portion was disappointingly tiny. The fried chicken itself was tasty, but the sides were of such poor quality that none of us finished them. I wouldn’t recommend Lo’ for fried chicken night or the cornbread.

    Food was great, and liked that it was designed for sharing. The service however was excellent, staff were fun, responsive and made it a really great night.

    I found the pork to be cooked a little too rare for my taste (fine for beef, a bit nervous around pork), when I flagged our waitress she said that they prepare the dish rare/medium rare and that she usually tells people so they are aware, I think if you're going to be doing this, then people should be asked in the same way they are for steak. We had some other issues with our drinks orders, we ordered two of the same drink, but they varied in taste significantly, one old fashioned had the orange scorched, the other didn't, one was missing the sugar (less sweet). The second round of drinks we received an incorrect drink, as we were alerting the waitress a second drink arrived (wasn't incorrectly charged). The place is new so maybe they are still finding their feet. it's a good location and beautiful building.

    We had an unforgettable evening at 'Lo. The food was fresh and delicious, that Chef knows his southern American. The grits, cornbread, and hash browns were outstanding. Everyone wanted more of the biscuits with chicken. Pork chop was cooked to perfection, like the steaks, which were the winner on this night. Add the Elite service, ice cold beer, and those mandarin margaritas, Lo was kilking it. We'll be back, thank you.

    The food was great, the drinks were great. The staff were warm and friendly. I appreciated the bar tender taking the time to explain the whiskey and he made a great cocktail. Would highly recommend
