Historic Texas Country Icehouse & Premium River Walk Patio

Nestled on the edge of the historic La Villita Village is a very special place, the oldest two story rock building in Bexar county built by Otto Bombach in the mid-19th century. A pleasant surprise to behold! The Prost Haus, German by design but Texas country by application. Admire the museum like spectacle of the interior restaurant and bar architecture and slide outside to the most beautiful patio on the San Antonio River Walk. Live country music radiates as guests indulge in cool Texas brews or hand-crafted colorful cocktails. The menu items are made from scratch daily and offer delicious delicacies from hand pulled giant pretzels, Texas corned beef Reubens, and mouthwatering USDA steaks.

This is the best patio on The San Antonio River Walk to wind down, enjoy Texas country music, and watch the best sunsets in the southern USA.

Prost Y’all!

Overall food was good. Reuben egg rolls need some work. Various sausages were excellent. Reuben sandwich was spot on. Schnitzel was very light on the sauce and flavorless. Service was good. Drinks were great and beer was cold.

It was the day before Valentines and I was searching for a place to take my love. They bent over backwards to make a way for me to come back and bring my husband. It was a fantastic meal and experience.

Food was great and the music was awesome. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the weather and the Riverwalk. It was a little hard to have conversations but the whole evening was a hit.

-We enjoy sitting outside by the river. It's a great view on their patio. We've given this place two tries now. Two years ago, when they were first opening, they weren't ready for the rush and ran out of a lot of food. Service was slow. This year, we decided to give them a second chance. Arriving at 5:30 pm, we were given a list of 4 things that had already run out. It was not crowded but service was very slow. Still, it's a nice place to sit so we were patient. However, all the food was mediocre, even the German food, which you'd expect to be excellent. My daughter's pretzel, another of their signature items, was too tough to chew. Oh well. The place is not expensive but the food and the turnaround time needs a lot of work. Our server was very polite though.

Worst restaurant on the river walk. Manager was more concerned about upcoming private event than someone with reservations. DON’T GET CHEESE WITH PRETZEL, it cost an additional $4. Don’t be fooled be pictures of big pretzel, they only have small frozen pretzel sticks. Lots of great restaurants in SA, don’t waste your time.

The outdoor atmosphere and your server was just great. The music was awesome. One thing I didn’t like was that they were kids running up and down. The food unfortunately was not good ( no seasoning)under cook and the wings were overly seasoned to the point where we were coughing.

The service was excellent. Atmosphere is awesome. Live music and a view of the River Walk. Very busy when we were there. Food was just okay. Nothing special. They were out of certain menu items and running low on other items. Drinks were good. Overall, I'd recommend getting some drinks, have an appetizer and enjoy the atmosphere but have your meal elsewhere.
