L'Escargot is London's oldest and most celebrated French restaurant serving classic French provincial dishes. It also has a great cocktail bar with reasonably priced cocktails and all day dining. Upstairs in the cocktail Bar there are live music acts every weekend.

The restaurant has welcomed luminaries such as Coco Chanel, Charles de Gaulle, Maurice Chevalier, Laurence Olivier, Lucien Freud and Francis Bacon. Princess Diana was a regular and to this day the restaurant is the home of many celebrated personalities.

It is located close to all the major West-End theatres, which makes it an excellent pre and post theatre dining spot.

Went for Sunday lunch, although it is a la carte there was the most amazing Beef on the menu. Had the full 3 courses which was great value at £45 (£39 for 2 courses). This included their delicious chocolate soufflé. The French Onion Soup for starter was so flavourful shared with snails - you have to try them. Great food, great service - definitely worth a visit!

Great atmosphere and service. We had a great table and waiter. The food was very good… onion soup was amazing. Mail course duck was tasty but potion a bit small. Desert was good. Overall could not fault the experience. Will be back…. There is also a piano bar on the top floor which is nice space to chill after dinner.

We selected meals from fix menu. Onion soup- highly average compared to french onion soup that you would have in any chain restaurants, nothing was standing out in terms out flavour Meat selection- good quality meats however not served with bread. We had to order a basket of bread which was around £5. Mushroom risotto- The flavour was on point, however it was not absorbed by the rice properly and the rice was tougher than you would normally have in a classic risotto. Duck- meat was cooked well, juicy and had nice flavour and served with red Cabbage and a tasty sauce, however the meat piece very small, and the plate was not filling for a main course at all. Ice cream selection- was okay, nothing special about it. You can get similar taste ice cream anywhere basically Tart citron- great, not too sour, not too sweet, just well balanced as expected. The portion size was ideal for a desert. Overall: We would expect more from the London's oldest French restaurant. It still remains below average.

A lovely escape from the hustle and bustle of the West End's busy streets, this restaurant has a warm and cosy atmosphere, delicious food and excellent service. We ordered from the Set Menu and the food was divine. The only addition I ordered separately was the Creme Brulee and it was so worth it! We celebrated our wedding anniversary here and were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary plate of chocolates wishing us Happy Anniversary and it came with a postcard of well wishes too! We managed to enjoy all of this in a small time frame between theatre shows and it did not feel rushed, their service was impeccable!

A very enjoyable lunchtime experience with delicious food and good service. The ambience is also very pleasant especially if you sit in the front near the window. Prices are not unreasonable by today's standards, though the extras do add up

Staff provided a warm welcome and were attentive. The design of the restaurants provides a lovely calm, romantic ambience. Unfortunately for me the food was not on par when comparing to other French food I have eaten before.between 5 and 7 I believe you can have the 2 courses for £60 or 3 courses for £90. We chose three courses as I took my partner for his birthday. The food overall lacked seasoning for my liking. It is also dog friendly which I didn't realise as I am not really a fan of dog friendly restaurants especially as a dog did end up doing a number 2 on the carpet near our table... Don't really see myself going back to be honest.

It was a great experience. The food, ambience was great but the service is average. Came for my husbands birthday. Left a note at the time of booking if any special dessert or a small gesture can be done for his birthday. The server was also made aware that we have come to celebrate his birthday , but NOTHING was done. Disappointing!

We are very sorry - the waiter completely forgot it was Lee's birthday. We had a birthday plate all ready for him, but the waiter forgot to serve it. We do apologise... a glass of Champagne each awaits your next visit. best wishes and apologies....@/"...@/"
