The iconic, l’escale restaurant bar, or “port of call” for seasonal Mediterranean cuisine is designed to transport the ambiance of Provence to the Gold Coast of Connecticut. Two-hundred-year-old stone terra cotta tiles from Provence adorn the floors with a wood burning fireplace lending an unmistakable charm and beauty.

Located at Delamar Greenwich Harbor Hotel, the restaurant’s intimate decor, along with its wrought iron tonelle covered waterfront terrace and exquisitely designed menu by award winning Executive Chef Frederic Kieffer will deliver the Côte d’Azur right to your table.

I love this restaurant but this last visit was disappointing. It was much too loud, and the food was not up to their normal standards. Duck was much too salty, mussels weren’t great. That said, the service was impeccable. We will be back, maybe at a quieter time of year.

The prime rib was of good quality but it had little au jus and that was disappointing. The N.E. clam chowder was far from ideal, especially as Greenwich is the gateway to N.E. The wait staff was exemplary. The restaurant was packed and yet I got plenty of personal attention .

Had Sunday brunch - service excellent. So was the virgin Bloody Mary; tho the Prosecco better for those who likes their bubbly on the sweet side. Noise level high. Table close to the entryway and cold wind arrived along with each new set of guests. Decided on the classic English breakfast -- hard to mess up. But odd that sausages were as poor as they were -- even slightly off. Maybe they do better at dinner, with more challenging dishes.

We love going to L'Escale for special occasions, particularly birthdays and our anniversary. We haven't had a disappointment there until yesterday, Thanksgiving. As always, the service was attentive, and the room was beautiful. The food, however, was disappointing. Perhaps because our 6 pm was one the latest reservations, the turkey was dry and overcooked. More troubling was the Angus Strip steak, which arrived a much lower quality sirloin cut. Did they run out of strips? But I'll give credit where it's due. The veloute was the star of the evening and the ginger ice cream that accompanied the bready apple rose was a treat. We'll go back for another special occasion, but probably not for a high-volume holiday meal.

We had a perfect birthday celebration in this restaurant. Everything was superb, including the band that played live music.

They should let people know when booking that there is a pre fixed menu and charges for a show. They book a reservation for 6pm with a menu and costs that apply to a show that doesn’t start until 9pm. We paid for something we couldn’t even be there for. Service is terrible and very pretentious. Will not be back.
