Le Yaca began in 1964 in Courchevel, a tiny, country village in the French Alps. Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans, they told the hopeful restaurateurs they were crazy to think people would drive eight kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner. Daniele and Gerard hesitated for three months and then decided, “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “il n’y a qu’a le faire,” which basically means, “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag, but the name caught on with customers who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States and opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg. Daniel Abid bought Le Yaca in 2001. Daniel worked and trained in such prestigious places as “Le Pre Catelan” and “Lenotre” in Paris; “L’Amandier” and “Roger Verge," and to top it all off, “Alain Ducass

    Went to lunch with two girlfriends who share birthdays with me, relatively speaking . Le Yaca is always wonderful - the food is delicious, the service is wonderful without being intrusive and although pricier than some restaurants, it is excellent value for the wonderful meal we had .

    The dinners were excellent, the setting and ambiance were top-notch, and the staff was friendly and engaging. The restaurant was busy, but we did not have to speak in loud voices to hear each other (seems to be a rarity these days). A terrific dining experience overall.

    I really cannot remember the last time my family and I had such a lovely meal. The food was outstanding. The service was impeccable. The atmosphere was bright and relaxed, We celebrated my parents' birthdays and this was the ideal place for it.

    Always the best. The presentation of food is excellent. Menu choices the best. Staff are amazing with excellent attention to detail. I have frequented this restaurant many times and always have the best experience

    We always enjoy Le Yaca for special occasions! The only disappointment last night was the soup…supposed to be a tomato, apple, cumin but we start enjoying the soup and not tasting these flavors…it was asparagus, as they ran out of the tomato soup! Soup still delicious but as I told our server…What if someone was allergic to asparagus 😬! This won’t stop us from returning…great food & service 👍❤️😋

    Food was EXCELLENT. Anthony (our server) was OUTSTANDING! I had 2 filets, wife had sea bass. Both dishes were terrific, prepared to perfection. The onion soup is the best I have ever had (and I make a pretty good one myself) But this one is FANTASTIC.
