From the OpenTable editors: When Le Pigeon opened in 2006, it put Portland on the culinary map. The best seats in the intimate, brick-walled dining room are at the chef’s counter, where you’ll get a front row view of multi-James Beard Award-winner Gabriel Rucker’s dazzling, French-forward dishes. Cap the evening with playful desserts that could include foie gras profiteroles or a glass from the luscious Oregon- and French-centric wine list.

Went for my wife’s birthday dinner. Was a wonderful experience. Far more than just the food. We enjoyed both the food and getting to watch the chefs cook behind the counter. While at $140 a head it’s not cheap we walked away thinking kf was very much worth the price point.

We celebrated our ninth wedding anniversary tonight at Le Pigeon, where Chef Rucker's culinary mastery and perfect wine pairings created a truly unforgettable evening. It was so good I’m pretty sure the chemistry in my brain is forever altered. We were there for 2 1/2 hours for the 6-course meal. Terrific evening!

Honestly, it’s the best restaurant in Portland. The courses are meticulously crafted and the combined flavors are truly amazing. Add to that the best waitstaff I’ve seen in a long time and you’re in for a great night out.

Fantastic dining experience in terms of both food and service. My favorites were the Sturgeon Pastrami and Foie'nte Cristo add-on, and the reserve wine pairing was also excellent.

We had an amazing meal, both vegetarian and omnivore alike. Wine pairings were very good and brought out the flavors in the food.

Wonderful meal. Only downside is the expense, more than $500 with 25% tip. Special night for sure though and the service and food are wonderful.

My brother was visiting from out of town (a renowned foodie) and we had the best meal! He was truly astonished. The service was impeccable too and the dishes were delicious and completely original!

Server was in a hurry to take our order for the four of us, placed an order of cocktails a bottle of white wine and a bottle of red wine. He came to the table with two glasses (not 8). Amuse Bouche showed up, no cocktails or wine yet. Amuse Bouche was cold and bland. White wine arrived, I asked for two more glasses. Cocktails arrived along with the first course…beef carpaccio but no red wine yet. Asked again for the red wine and four more glasses. The red wine showed up after we had eaten our beef. I would go on but the service never got better and the food was disappointing as well. I expected much more from a French restaurant and a bill north of $1000.
