From the OpenTable editors: When Le Pigeon opened in 2006, it put Portland on the culinary map. The best seats in the intimate, brick-walled dining room are at the chef’s counter, where you’ll get a front row view of multi-James Beard Award-winner Gabriel Rucker’s dazzling, French-forward dishes. Cap the evening with playful desserts that could include foie gras profiteroles or a glass from the luscious Oregon- and French-centric wine list.

All in all, it was fine. Tough pierogi. (I hear from scuttlebutt they're going to work with the chef on this.) They need to work on timing courses, and wine service for pairings. They were okay with me boxing up a portion of each course to pass along to a curious eater. It's fun to chat with the staff at the counter.

Excellent dining experience. We both did the omnivore tasting menu with wine pairing and added the supplemental course + wine pairing for that. Each dish and wine came with a great explanation of the dish and sitting up at the chef’s counter watching the chefs work around each other cooking and plating dishes was a great experience. We were there about 2.5 hours. We had an 8:45PM reservation so I was a little concerned about getting cut short/rushed out, but that was not the case at all. Everything was truly excellent, a symphony of flavors and it seemed like each dish was better than the last. We both left saying we’d go back in a heartbeat once the menu has turned over.

Had a great table right by the front windows for our party of four. Three of us did the omnivore tasting menu and one did the vegetarian. We also did three of the "rarer" wine pairings. Service was outstanding, pacing was unrushed yet attentive, and all of the dishes were delicious and well executed. Definitely the finest dining experience I've had in Portland.

Revisited after 10 years - sadly not what it was. Plating and serving cadence was off. Food generally cold, dry, and lacked the full range of flavor expected. Felt over priced. $500 with tip - for two people doing full tasting menu.

Wow, I had high expectations for this restaurant and it still managed to exceed it. Everything was incredible - both the food and the service. I was fortunate that my friend got the vegetarian menu and I got the omnivore so that we could try all the things - and they were both equally good. I’ll be dreaming of Le Pigeon until I can return.
