   Lanter's Edge has beautiful views, there is no disputing that. We were there for breakfast. Our table was dirty and at least one coffee mug had something stuck inside it. Being that our party ranged in age from 61 to 90, none of us had enough of an appetite to have either the regular or special brunch ($45 to $73 each.) We were given a limited menu to order off of and four of us had the eggs benedict - delicious!! One had the Monte Cristo and said it was also delicious. We all had coffee and found it to be much like they serve in the upstairs bar area - water with a hint of coffee taste. It was the same with the regular and decaf and would definitely skip it next time since $45 each, for a total bill of $220 (20% tip included whether the service was good or not), seemed a bit high for the quantity and quality. The restaurant is WAAAAAAYYYYY to noisy for our age range. Every one talking loud, doors opening and closing constantly (bringing in the cold air) and dishes clanking (or crashing to the ground at the table across from us.) Would probably choose a local restaurant next time. The in-room dining was very disappointing. The fish taco's were good, but the tomato bisque was way too salty (and no spoon to eat it with) and the kids chicken fingers were over cooked and over salted. Disappointed in the number of options for sure. We received the requested pitcher of ice water, however the glasses were too dirty to drink from. This is still such a beautiful hotel and the staff are all very nice. I have been staying here for at least 20 years and will stay there again without hesitation.

   Staff and food were great, however the live music was far too loud for such a small space. We originally had a a patio reservation for brunch but moved inside so we could hear each other. Our server was lovely about accommodating our apologetic ask, despite the restaurant being busy.

   Innovative menu: maitake mushroom starter, picanha steak and ube cake all excellent. Service attentive and also excellent. Good prices fair with 20% obligatory service charge added to bill automatically. Will go back.

   The first thing I wanted to note is that our server, Jett, made the experience memorable. His positivity made the night enjoyable. I planned a milestone birthday here weeks ago. Our entire party came in from out of town. I made several calls to confirm the night on the patio. When we were seated at our table we were informed that there was a dinner and movie night happening on the patio. Which was located right next to the patio. The alternative was if is was too loud we could move inside. I most likely would have made reservations elsewhere if I was previously informed of this at one of the earlier conversations I had with the staff weeks prior. We were excited to experience the menu as we learned that they had a new chef on property. The food was good. I was honestly expecting more. Maybe the Hocus Pocus movie playing in the background distracted my taste buds? I felt like the food at Sam Fox restaurants were more rich in flavor. Again, the food was good. However, the flavor to price point wasn't reflected in my opinion. The portions were a bit disappointing. The lobster pasta dish was shockingly tiny for the price. And the person who ordered it bit into a lobster shell in the pasta dish. My pesto was okay. I asked for salt pepper and Parmesan to boost the flavor. I was shocked that the restaurant wasn't terrible busy and I wish there was more attention to detail to the dishes we ordered. With the long list of restaurants in Dana Point, I'm not sure I would return to this restaurant on my next visit. That said, the RESTAURANT staff was accommodating and very pleasant. I would maybe recommend this location for a sunset cocktail perhaps. Definitely not for a special event. Especially on a "dinner and a movie" night on the patio.

   Food was great. We had filet mignon, octopus, spaghetti, scallops, and oysters on the half shell. All the food was delicious. The ambience is a little barren and cold feeling. We ate inside even though we had reservations for the patio, as it was cold and foggy I would like to come back and try the patio in the future when it’s not as cold it looked beautiful with the fire pits. Our server was delightful, although could be a little bit more attentive. The busser, Bella was spectacular. She would be a great server and should be promoted! The rest of the staff was extremely attentive. Even the manager came by to check on our table and make sure all is well.
