Das Landgut Hückels May erlebte eine wechselvolle Geschichte. Nach über 60 Jahren als Landwirtschaftsbetrieb wird der Hof 1900 an die Terraingesellschaft AG zum Zwecke der Industrieansiedlung verkauft, deren Rechtsnachfolger erst die Deutschen Edelstahlwerke, dann Thyssen-Krupp-Nirosta und jetzt Outokumpu waren bzw. sind. Auf den damaligen Feldern des Hofes entstand das heutige Stahlwerk. Der Hof wurde Anfangs mit jeweils 7-jährigen Vertrag bereits mit Gasthaus an die Familie Lönne verpachtet. Nach dem Krieg wird der Hof von den Eheleuten Ross (Trude Roß war eine geb. Lönne) betrieben. Erst 1973 haben die Eheleute Roß diesen von Thyssen erworben. Nach dem Tod Ihres Mannes führte Frau Trude Roß das Gasthaus bis zu ihrem Tod 1996.
