La Petite Brasserie in Cheltenham offers an exquisite dining experience with "perfectly cooked venison" and "exemplary service." The Indo-French menu includes delightful options like monkfish and amuse-bouche, with "excellent" wines to complement the meal. If you like fine food and dining - go anywhere else. La Petite Brasserie has all the ambience and charm of a late night curry house and the kind of customer service that wouldn’t be out of place on the set of Royston Vasey. The tasting menu - at £65 per head - was the work of a true con-artist. We’re grateful for not having opted for the wine pairing, although they did try and charge us for it. It was high comedy in some respects - especially the fish course which, when we pointed out wasn’t monk fish, as advertised, the waiter insisted was sea bass and could not be persuaded otherwise. (NB: It wasn’t sea bass.) Neither was there anything recognisably French about this menu. Apart from some boot leather steak, maybe, which I personally had to give up on as the sawing effort was wearing out my knife. In short, I would spare anyone else this experience unless you have money to burn and fancy a laugh before going out for some proper food.

It may look a little rough around the edges, but we had a fantastic anniversary dinner here. They get it right where it counts, the tasting menu was delicious and the device was great.

The food here was excellent. We had 3 courses from the signature menu which was £42 so it was great value for money. We both had the scallops to start and they were cooked to perfection. The same goes for our mains. The duck was perfectly pink and everything accompanying the dish was perfect, couldn’t fault it. My friend had the sea bass, which again was cooked perfectly. For dessert I had the chocolate soufflé and my friend had the crème brûlée, both were delicious! We didn’t have a complaint about any of the food and I will definitely be going back and can highly recommend.

Our experience was very disappointing. We had to wait over an hour between starters and mains. My duck was cold and the dauphinois potatoes were raw and inedible. When the plate was eventually returned the duck had simply been fried so that it was now greasy and overcooked and the potatoes were still raw. No proper apology was offered and no discount for an uneaten meal. I will not be returning.

Excellent service and great food. Portions are very generous so make sure you're hungry! The only downside is the decor as it is a bit confused. It has industrial pipework crossed with Georgian reproduction. Despite that, I would definitely go back and would highly recommend.
