  • Fancy
  • Romantic
Located at 699 14th Street on the coveted corner of 14th and G Street NW, La Grande Boucherie is situated on the most high-profile street in Washington D.C., just one block away from the White House. The restaurant is built in elegant and ornamental Art Nouveau style, evoking the sense of optimism from the turn of the 20th century. The brasserie’s menu features both classic and modern French dishes, with focus on the meat program, raw bar and extravagant large-format meats, ideal for sharing and celebrating. Mahogany wood and glass partitions divide the gargantuan space to create intimate dining experiences. These pieces are adorned in gilded accents and uniquely curved arches inspired by the 20th-century Art Nouveau movement of Paris. The main dining room highlights a massive curved bar with a metal top imported from Paris, a signature piece of Boucherie.

La Grande Boucherie in Washington D.C. truly lives up to its grand name, offering an immersive and delightful Parisian dining experience. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance transports you to a bustling, yet elegant, French brasserie. The decor is stunning, with soaring ceilings, ornate details, and a vibrant atmosphere that's perfect for a special occasion or a memorable night out. The food, of course, is the star of the show. We indulged in the classic French onion soup, which was rich and flavorful, followed by perfectly cooked steak frites. Every dish was prepared with meticulous attention to detail and showcased the quality of the ingredients. The wine list is extensive and thoughtfully curated, offering a wide range of options to complement the meal. However, what truly elevated our experience was the exceptional service we received from our server, Christian. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about ensuring we had a wonderful time. Christian’s recommendations were spot-on, and he explained each dish and wine pairing with enthusiasm and expertise. He was incredibly patient, answering all our questions and making us feel completely at ease. His warm and friendly demeanor made us feel like valued guests, and his impeccable service was truly the best we've encountered in a long time. La Grande Boucherie is a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic and unforgettable French dining experience in Washington D.C. And if you're lucky enough to have Christian as your server, you're in for a truly exceptional evening. Highly recommended!

The service was good. I got the lobster bisque which was great! I also got the Coq au vin. The potatoes purée was too salty, but still edible. I’d order it again because I’m sure that was a small mishap. I got milk chocolate and caramel tarte for dessert. I liked it. It was sweet so having it with coffee was a nice balance. I also shared some of the desserts my other guests had like the profiteroles which were delicious and the raspberry sorbet. Neither were overly sweet. I would come back and try something else.

Very nice Restaurant, very fancy, good food and great service, but there were few things I didn't like. First thing was the entrance, there was a cable in the floor crossing the entire aisle, then there was no one at the desk, and I had to wait some minutes for someone to approach. We had to wait standing, and there was only one long chair which was occupied. After a few minutes we were told we could pass to our table. The table was next to the kitchen and the chairs were not very comfortable. Not a great place for an Anniversary. Another thing, we went for the selection of meat, but there was only 1 meat option at the time we went, so we didn't have much of a choice. Also no much options for the red wine by the glass. The restroom is unisex, so it was hard to send my kid.

Food was just okay, kind of disappointing for a French bistro in DC. Fries soggy with oil, better burgers at Amelie or Le Diplomate, steak tartare underwhelming, mains were fine, but under flavored. Service was polite but slow. Oysters never cane but we were charged for them, had to ask three times for aioli, tough to flag down staff, waiter tossed dessert menus on the table unceremoniously and talked off even though we already knew what we wanted. Finally flagged down someone else to take our order. Disappointing coffees. On the upside, gorgeous setting, dining hall!

La Grande Boucherie is a magnificent restaurant. I had brunch with my friends and it was a wonderful experience. I ordered lobster bisque and a cocktail to go with it. For my main course, I ordered steak and fries. By mistake, I ordered it well done, but then asked the waiter, Cristian, if I could change it to medium. He kindly agreed. When the dish arrived, the meat was juicy, the with chimichurri sauce on top. It was absolutely delicious! Upon tasting it, it was very flavorful, and I highly recommend it. The contrast of flavors was just how I like it. To finish, I ordered the Basque cheesecake for dessert, and it was truly delicious. Everything was excellent, and I am very grateful for Cristian's excellent service.

I had such a wonderful experience at La Grand Boucherie. From the moment we sat down, Christian, our server, made us feel right at home. I have a seafood allergy, and I was a little nervous, but Christian was so attentive and made sure to check with the kitchen about everything. He explained the ingredients in each dish to ensure I was safe, which really put my mind at ease. The food was incredible, and I absolutely loved the La Délice de Bourgogne cheese appetizer—it was a perfect start to the meal. For dessert, the profiteroles were definitely my favorite! They were absolutely delicious, and the service throughout the meal was quick and efficient. Christian really made the whole experience feel special. I’ll definitely be coming back and would recommend this place to anyone. It’s a five-star experience all around!

What a pleasant morning, the food was delicious, each ingredient very fresh but the best was Cristian's attention, he always answered all my questions and was attentive to the table, my favorite dish was the croque madam3 Since we arrived we loved the cocktails. I ordered a fruity mocktail. The recommendations were the best choice. Another thing I liked was the view from my table. I would come back to celebrate special occasions.
