   Love that entree includes soup (delicious) and salad that has an outstanding dressing. I had beef, which was delicious, and husband had the special salmon, also delicious.

   One of the few restaurants where they serve soup and salad as part of dinner. Everything was tasty and well plated.

   Everything about our experience here was five star! Our waiter, John, made amazing recommendations and matched a wine perfectly with the dishes we ordered! The owner even checked on us partway through our dinner and we had a lovely conversation with her! Everything was delicious and while seemingly simple recipes, the flavors were complex and fabulous! We were texting our best friends to let them know we were going to bring them here to eat soon!

   Wanted a nice place to celebrate an event and La Gare did not miss a beat. Parking was easy as our reservation was earlier in the evening. Things picked up as we were dining. It also seemed that many regulars were in attendance as pleasantries were exchanged with several wait staff. Usually a good sign. We started with a quiche appetizer, a nice full glass of wine and coffee with bread for the table. The entrees came with a tangy salad and an earthy soup that were both simple yet elevated as good French cuisine exemplifies. Water and coffee were refilled often and the table bread was checked on a regular basis. Though the three specials did sound delicious as described we decided to go with regular menu fare. I chose the house special, beef wellington and my partner went with the beef bordelaise. The wellington was enrobed in a delicate pastry cooked perfectly medium rare and melted on the tongue. The bordelaise had a rich sauce and velvety medallions. Both were excellent with a nice compliment of vegetables. Following the mains we both decided a celebratory dessert was in order, I ordered the chocolate mousse and she had the creme Brulé. Subtly sweet the mousse was creamy and luscious and the creme brulé was fresh and light with a sweet caramel. It was the first time for both of us attending La Gare. All in all it was an excellent experience and we would be remis to not dine there again.

   We had our own private table and heater on the patio, with our dog. Weather was mild and the experience excellent. Food great, as it has always been. Service very attentive and a great evening all around.

    Just off the Main Street area. The front doors are solid black doors with brass handles look very elusive. Once in you’re transported to the French Swiss Alps with an aged lodge type feel. Meals are served with soup and salad. My soup tasted homemade made I could have eaten 3 bowls it was so good. The salad was thoughtful but below average. We had steak and chicken. The protein quality was above average and were cooked perfectly. The sides; rice, potatoes, asparagus and carrots were underwhelming and didn’t match the high quality proteins. All in all this is a great family restaurant and I would return anytime I’m in the area and I’m looking for a quality meal.
