About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Lively
  • Charming
Opened in 2006 by 8 time James Beard Award Nominee, Chef James Campbell Caruso.
La Boca has the feel of a lively European wine bar, featuring an extensive selection of carefully chosen Spanish wines and Sherries. Chef Caruso's Modern Spanish Cuisine is inspired by the exuberance of Spanish cooking combined with fresh, local ingredients. La Boca has been  called "the most influential restaurant in Santa Fe" by the Pasatiempo Magazine and the New York Times describes the menu as "modern re-inventions of classic Spanish cuisine" Knowledgeable and animated staff graciously guide guests to the perfect wine to complement their meals. La Boca also prides itself on being an ambassador of Spanish sherry culture, transporting its guests to Jerez in the crisp cool flavors of Fino, or the deep fig-essence of a Pedro Ximenez.

Join us every Thursday and Friday night for live music on the Taberna main stage!

La Boca has been on our list for awhile. It didnt disappoint. There are actually 2 venues at the same location. The entrance on Marcy is a typical Tapas place. Around the "alley" is a dining venue with live music! We opted for the music. Much fun and of course noisy. Tables are set up for 2 diners very close together like NY or Chicago. No white table cloths here. A small bar and a small stage for the guitarist and drummer. Very "village". Loved it. We shared mussels in a delicious coconut sauce with crusted baguette from Sage. Sandy had a Sangria and I had a seasonal dark beer. Then we shared a paella for one. Very filling. Next time we will try other Tapas dishes!

The place is quite small and tables are very close to each other. At 8;15 pm on Sunday, service was overall slow, and food took a very long time to come out. I ordered the garlic shrimp, patatas bravas, and filet mignon. the shrimp was old, overcooked, and the sauce was not anything Spanish. The patatas bravas had a little bit of pepper sauce, much less than normal, but had a large amount of mayonaise dip on top of it-not Spanish at all. The steak was fine, and the wine was good. However, when I finished, the manager came over and asked if I wanted something else. I asked for the desert menu, and she started looking at her watch several times. There were still several tables of customers, so I didn't understand why she was signaling me that it was too late. I complained, and they gave me a free desert, not of my choice. That's fine, but it still made an overall mediocre experience. By comparison, other Santa Fe restaurants at the same price point were far better in food quality, service, and overall experience.

Well, that was fun! Great food and friendly/diligent servers make this a good date night place. We wished it were a bit bigger because one is elbow to elbow with the tables next to you, but alas, La Boca is a Santa Fe institution just like it is.

Fantastic! The perfect Sunday afternoon in Santa Fe! We sat at the bar and had great service, a journey & feast of food along with beverages. It was a relaxed environment. We finished the day here after skiing and what a treat. We were spoiled… it’s hard to say what was best because it all was so delicious. Okay… the Chicharrones was a favorite… crispy.. with a dipping sauce.. like a chicharrón nugget (instead of chicken nugget). The desserts … ufff can’t miss along with a cortado to dip the churro cookies… cant wait to visit again! Thank you for having us!

The best meal we had while in Santa Fe! Small restaurant, around 12 tables. The food was fantastic! The grilled artichoke dish was so delicious. Great wine selection. We were there on a Friday night and they had a guy playing his guitar and singing Spanish tunes as well as some Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson classics. We had a wonderful evening.

Celebrated a very important birthday and Boca made it special. Selections from their menu each paired with sherry was delicious. We’ve made Boca a favorite every visit to Santa Fe.

I found this to be a different dining experience then your traditional order an appetizer, then a salad and finally an entree experience. Here you order as many "small plates" as you wish for your table. You can order multiple dishes and continue to order more courses until you are full. The food was great as well as the service. Also, if you are in the mood for a cocktail, I would recommend you try their old fashion, it was one of the better ones I have had.

La Boca is one of those places were it is consistently good. We have never had a dish we didn’t like. The food is amazing. The gin and tonics are delicious and light. Service is always attentive. It’s always a great option for food in Santa Fe.
