   My wife and I have been loyal patrons since retiring from the Air Force in 2015, and Kirby’s has always been our favorite steakhouse in the area. While the food remained exceptional, as expected, the service we received this evening was disappointing and did not reflect the high standards we have come to appreciate. Our server appeared far more engaged with an adjacent table, spending an excessive amount of time conversing with those guests while we were left waiting for service. This led to delays in receiving our meals and our ticket, as well as an overall lack of attentiveness. At one point, He apologized for the delay, stating that he had spoken to the kitchen and that our meals were being plated. However, our food arrived almost immediately after, making it evident that this was not the case because he'd been at the adjacent table for the previous 5-7 minutes. Additionally, when our check was presented, he promptly retrieved it while we were still enjoying our drinks, which felt rushed and discourteous. It would have been nice to see the same sense of eagerness while we were trying to enjoy our meal. My peppercorn steak was the absolute best I have ever had. I was amazed and the tenderness and flavor. This visit was intended to be a special Valentine’s Day celebration even though it was on the 15th, but the inattentive service detracted from the experience. Given our long history of dining at Kirby’s, this was our most disappointing visit, and it has led us to reconsider future visits.

   We were seated at a 4 top that was a curvy rectangular booth. For a party of 2 this was kind of awkward since we had to scoot all The way around and then we were right next to each other looking out at other patrons. Would have preferred a more intimate setting. Food was good but nothing that set it apart from other steakhouses. Except the Boursin potatoes. They were creamy and delicious. Service was great! Attentive and friendly. Knowledgeable about any questions we asked.

   The soup of the day, the smoked steak tomato soup was, I don't know, I never had a soup so good in my life. The bold, robust flavor was amazing. I'm not much a soup person either. My cold smoked ribeye steak was very good as well. Cooked to perfection, My date, she had the lobster bisque and said that is how a lobster bisque should taste like, needless to say, she loved it. We split the lobster mac and cheese, it was on par with everything else on the table. Our waitress, Bethany, was as good as I have had. She was at the table checking on us when we needed it without hoovering over us. At the end of the meal, she took a little time to talk to us and to tell us about the area as we were visiting San Antonio from Louisiana. My only complaint, the oblong tables that sits four, but on only one side of the table, get rid of them. It makes things awkward, even with just two people sitting at them.

   This was such an amazing experience. We were in town for AirForce graduation and stayed an extra day or two to experience San Antonio. I found Kirby’s on a google search of steak houses and man did I choose correctly! My husband had the cold smoked ribeye - perfection. I had the pan seared sea bass with lobster risotto. Amazing. The risotto was creamy and flavorful. Sea bass was tender and buttery. Very high quality food and the service was unmatched. We felt like we definitely got our moneys worth as the price was in medium range for a nice steakhouse. Highly recommend!

    Justin was excellent! We had a large party, most of us it was our first time at Kirby's. Intimate atmosphere, excellent service, exquisite food.
