On October 4th, 2022 the Dutch red windmill opened her doors to Fred & Diana.

Diana is known for Diana's Pancakes, across Barcelo and before that, she was the owner of a similar pancake place next to the mill.

Fred is known for his former restaurants Chef's Tables, 2 Fools and a Bull and Fred Restaurant in downtown Oranjestad.

The two decided to work together and King Fred & Princess Diana was born. Diana delights guests with Dutch pancakes in the morning, while Fred takes the reins in the evening, serving a diverse range of international cuisine for dinner.

On the second floor you will find our souvenir shop that can be visited anytime upon request.

The third floor belongs to Frans, who is a well known bartender in the Aruban hospitality industry. He will serve you cold drinks for a reasonable price.

Our table was ready for us when we arrived at the restaurant. The staff was welcoming, very friendly and attentive to our needs. The food was excellent, and the cocktails are very good. Definitely recommend dining here.

Unfortunately, we were not impressed with King Fred and Princess Diana. When we arrived, there was a delicious smell of food in the air. We were excited and assumed it was coming from King Fred's. The drink special was good! It was kind of like a lemon drop. The bread basket was good. We asked for water, which we were charged a small fee. My husband and I ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu. We received a fried piece of chicken with no ham and some weird curdled cheese inside. It was kind of like a frozen stuffed chicken you get at the grocery store and throw in the oven. My daughter was still eating her dinner, and the hostess took her food away. The dessert was ok, but the taramisu was strong with alcohol. My husband had the cheesecake and said it was very good! The food we smelled coming in ended up being from a different restaurant next door. Maybe we picked the wrong meal? I don't know. We chose this restaurant due to all the positive reviews on the Aruba FB pages.

The restaurant is very reasonably priced and service is excellent. Mustard soup which everyone raves about was mild and creamy but I felt the flavor was nondescript and definitely didn’t taste any pungent taste of mustard. French onion special soup was very good. We ordered chicken cordon blue and chick parm. Chicken was tender in both and Gouda cheese mouse inside cordon was tasty but not enough of it. We felt both dishes were bland and lacked flavor but some people do not want garlic and spices in their food . Pasta under parm and mashed potatoes with cordon were tasteless.maybe I expected more or this is the menu geared for basic tastes.my mistake was not listening to server and getting mushroom sauce instead of truffle for cordon blue possibly . When I make at home I make a tarragon mushroom sauce , but again this menu I feel is geared to mild taste buds.

Every time we visit Aruba, a stop at King Fred’s is a tradition we wouldn't dream of skipping. Nestled inside the iconic red windmill. Our absolute favorite dish is the Beef Wellington, a masterpiece that requires ordering at least a day in advance and serves a minimum of 4 people. When it's just the two of us, we happily take leftovers to-go. Pairing the Beef Wellington with their famous Mustard Soup is a culinary experience that is simply unparalleled, this combo is hands-down my favorite meal on the island! The drinks are great too, mojitos rank as my personal favorite. Chef Fred is a true artist in the kitchen, crafting dishes with evident care and the freshest ingredients. The service team is equally exceptional, we have had Lucia many times—her warm and cheerful presence always adds to the dining experience. We also love heading upstairs to Drinks with Frans for a post-dinner drink, soaking in the unique experience at the top of the windmill and visiting with Frans. We even tried a special liquor from Holland. This is a must-visit spot for anyone coming to Aruba. We always leave with full hearts and even fuller stomachs!
