   I recently chose Juniper for a special Review for Juniper Restaurant - Austin occasion—my daughter’s birthday—after doing extensive research and driving over an hour to get there. Unfortunately, the experience fell well below expectations, leaving us disappointed and frustrated. We were seated outside, where the atmosphere was anything but celebratory. Rush hour traffic created an unpleasantly noisy backdrop, and the tables were bare, lacking any decor or charm. However, the evening started on a positive note, with attentive waitstaff who promptly took our drink and food orders. We shared three recommended starters, and while the service initially seemed detail-oriented—removing clean, unused plates after each dish—this attentiveness quickly deteriorated. When our entrees arrived, they were brought out in three separate deliveries. My husband and daughter’s steaks were perfectly cooked and seasoned but were inexplicably served at room temperature. By the time my eggplant entree arrived, they were nearly finished eating. While the eggplant itself was crispy and tender, the accompanying “Red Devil sauce was overwhelmingly spiced and completely inedible. To make matters worse, no one came by to check on our meals during this time. Eventually, the lead server noticed my untouched dish while clearing the plates and offered to replace it. I opted for the Cacio e Pepe, which arrived hot but was a letdown. It lacked both the “pepe” and any discernible salt, rendering it bland and unenjoyable. Again, no one checked in to ask how the replacement dish was, and when I declined to have it boxed up, there was no acknowledgment of why a full plate of pasta was left untouched. Dessert was another disappointing experience. We ordered two desserts to share, but no small plates were provided—just spoons—so we passed the bowls around.    Absolutely the best meal we’ve had in Austin this year. And the team is fabulous here!

   Excellent food and service. The rigatoni pasta was a huge hit as was the bread with ricotta, crudo, salmon, and ny strip. Alura (not sure of spelling) was such a great server. We’ll be back and request her section.

   We were visiting Austin and we always like to try new places. The amazing thing is we were able to get a last-minute reservation unlike other venues. When we got there, it was very quaint, the waiter was excellent and the food stellar. Just realize this is an Italian restaurant, and the portions are probably small. We ordered two appetizers and quickly went to three. I think this is a hidden gem.

   Excellent service, friendly attentive. Fresh clean high quality ingredients prepared perfectly. Made the night special with some special wine and attention to our special night.
