José Crested Butte is a modern Mexican restaurant with a focus on Guadalajara and Oaxaca-inspired cuisine. Its menu offers a range of chef-driven dishes (think tacos, carnitas, and ceviche) served alongside an extensive tequila collection and cocktail menu that includes José’s famous Squozen margarita.

Located at the base of Mt. Crested Butte at the Elevation Hotel & Spa, José offers a casual, inviting indoor and outdoor environment that is perfect for all-day, slope-side dining and après ski.

José Crested Butte opened in August 2022 and is the second location from the award-winning José brand, which was founded in Dallas and led by Executive Chef Anastacia Quiñones-Pittman. In 2022, José Dallas was a James Beard Award semifinalist for Best Hospitality and Best Chef Texas.

Food is great, love the drink choices too, try the huevos rancheros for breakfast or the kale Chx Caesar if you want to be healthy

Great atmosphere and service. Drinks are good too. But they discontinued my favorite menu item, their wonderful shrimp cocktail. The food we ordered arrived lukewarm, rather than hot. But the patio and location can’t be beat. We will go back.

Food quality here is not the best. We ordered guacamole, but it was like whipped something with avocado flavoring. Service could be better. There is zero ambience in this restaurant. The outdoor space is lovely if weather permits. The bartender was very attentive and made great cocktails, but once we sat at our table, our server was less than fantastic

It was the 4th of July so super busy so understand delays, etc. Ended up getting food to go, but they forgot a bunch of it. Overall, we typically like Jose’s and happy they are on the mountain.

Great concept at the resort but quality and experience was not worth the money spent. No one working at the host stand and had to ask a server to be sat (what’s the point for booking a reservation?!) and the service was very transactional and impersonal.

Great margaritas and beautiful view! Loved the chips and salsa but would really appreciate if they would be more generous with the salsa (especially for us Texans😉) Overall, we all enjoyed our margs, food and evening.
