   I recently visited Joeys with a friend in from out of town, hoping for a relaxed evening to catch up, but the service was disappointing. Our waitress, Maddy, did the bare minimum, making us feel like an inconvenience rather than welcomed guests. She didn’t check in on our food, offer drink refills, or engage with us at all. After we moved tables to accommodate a wheelchair user—a request we were happy to honor—Maddy eventually asked if I wanted another drink. I ordered a Louis Martini wine, which was delivered by someone else. However, the wine tasted noticeably off. My friend agreed, so I placed the glass at the end of the table. It sat there for +20 minutes before Maddy noticed. I declined another drink and asked for the bill instead. What followed was baffling. I saw Maddy laughing with another staff member, Rubina, while discussing the wine. Rubina then brought the bill and interrogated me about the issue. I explained the wine was corked, a bottling issue unrelated to the restaurant. Rather than accept my feedback, Rubina insisted the wine tasted fine to her and the bartender, pressing me repeatedly for specifics. As a sommelier, I explained corking is a bottling defect, but Rubina dismissed me, with irrelevant comments about Joeys using stoppers instead of corks. Her condescending tone and argumentative approach were unprofessional and unnecessary. To make matters worse, Rubina walked away and continued laughing with Maddy, leaving me feeling disrespected and unwelcome. Returning a nearly full glass of wine should not lead to an interrogation or dismissive behavior. This experience fell far below the standard I expect from Joeys. Guests should feel valued, not targeted for immature antics. Until these service issues are addressed, I’ll hesitate to return or recommend Joeys.

   Unfortunately, our visit to this restaurant left a mixed impression. The place seemed dusty, which gave a feeling of insufficient cleanliness. The service was disappointing — we had to remind the waiter about ourselves, which made the experience less enjoyable. The food was decent, but it was noticeably stuffy and hot inside, making the atmosphere uncomfortable. Due to the overall level of service, we decided to leave a slightly smaller tip than usual. We hope the restaurant takes note of these issues and improves its service quality.

   Food was cold and one of the food orders was missed , waiter did apologize and was kind, unfortunately one person had dinner later than everyone else

   We had a good time, the ambiance was good, the food was good service was good, however I felt slightly rushed with the service. Our server was very nice and efficient. More vegan options would be appreciated. Definitely a better list of wine. Overall though, we had a great time.

   Matthew was friendly and had such good energy, truly a lovely person! Although he wasn’t our server - he took care of us and made sure we got a booth and even came by to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and the food!

   Staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We were even offered a complementary glass of Prosecco, which was an unexpected bonus. Food was tasty. However, the food took a while to arrive at our table. Maybe the kitchen was short staffed. We were in good company so we weren't too bothered. I had the cod entree for the first time and it was delicious and flavourful.

   All of our servers were outstanding and very helpful. The service was excellent. The food was great and good value. The menu has lots of choices.
