   Just finished a family weekend at the Homestead and had dinner both nights at Jeffersons. Chip took care of us both nights. The food and environment were fantastic, and Chip was just great. He is an absolute professional at what he does. Can't wait to return.

   The Jefferson used to be our favorite at The Homestead, but the menu has gotten more limited, the prices are high, and, in short, the Jefferson has gotten pretentious. The Audubon's formality is deserved as a special dining experience. Actually, we think the Jefferson Taproom is a better value -- more, varied choices on the menu and warmer, friendlier service.

   We waited over an hour and a half for our steak. The steak was cold when we got it. They seemed to be having issues serving on time. However, the side dishes and the French onion soup were delicious. Our waitress was lovely and tried everything she could to make us comfortable and happy.

    The Jefferson is attached to the Jefferson Tap Room and is quite noisy. Definitely not the quiet romantic steak dinner we were anticipating. We’d requested a quiet table with a view and were seated in what appeared to be the children’s section next to the kitchen door. Our dinner was anything but quiet, with kids running in the aisles next to us. The food was decent, and our waiter was kind but not terribly attentive, as he had many large group tables as well in our section. Overall, better for a large group than a romantic celebration.
