IZAKAYA MASUYA is one of the first izakaya-style restaurants in Australia, introducing Japanese sake from various areas in Japan.
At lunchtime, a range of takeaway menus including nutritiously balanced BENTO (lunchbox) menus and a variety of sushi rolls and DONBURI (rice bowl) menus attract local customers.
The store serves various dinner menus from Charcoal grilled wagyu beef to grilled chicken, tempura, Kyoto-style Temari sushi, and hot pot.
The concept of the store is to convey the beauty of Japanese sake to the world including Australia.

Was rushed out and asked to leave table in under an hour so it could be turned for the next guests - we hadn't even finished our drinks which we had been billed for.

I ordered chicken teriyaki sashimi teishoku - the chicken was deep fried the morning so it was served cold! Furthermore to my surprise the Teriyaki chicken was covered in thick batter so it's NOT really right. Sashimi was not very fresh and chewy texture! It's very bad food very poor quality. I don't know why people even go there!

We were repeatedly asked to leave 30mins after being seated. This was very bad experience and it wasn't like this before. I'll write a google review about this bad experience.

Amazingly fresh and superb sake choices. The tapas menu choices were perfect accompaniments. Had fresh cucumber pickles, sukiyaki beef and yaki-giri. Would recommend

A great lunch spot during the week. Wide range of good quality bento boxes to choose from at a reasonable price. The service is very fast and courteous as well.

The restaurant was very quiet - few diners, so the waiting staff had time and could have been more helpful when they spilt some of the cocktail when bringing it to the table and the table was wet. Instead they just brought more serviettes for us to mop it up ourselves. Our meals did not arrive at the same time. My partner ordered something that came quickly and I sat for almost half an hour waiting for my meal and watching him eat. When my meal eventually arrived he had finished and had to sit and wait and watch me eat.

Good food, but the portion seems to have gotten slightly smaller and the price has increased. Still one of the best Japanese restaurants in Sydney.
