We’d booked our valentines meal expecting a 5 course meal, not knowing you had to phone call and pre order. I’m not sure that was advertised when I saw the add which led me to booking. As two new parents we don’t get to go out often so we were really excited. Unfortunately there wasn’t even any child to go with the other mains we would’ve had to settle with. Sadly being busy night and valentines weekend it’s impossible o did anything last minute. A disappointing first visit unfortunately

so, where do I start. This is the first time I have eaten at the inn and I took a chance and booked a table for Valentines night. my intention was to surprise the wife but that went out the window when I was called and asked to pre-book my food, surprise gone. The wife had to tell me what she wanted. So we turned up to an almost empty restaurant however, almost every table was reserved with names on. I very much doubt every person that night had made a booking with reference with a specific table. We were sat right in the corner, I had the coats on my arm, that's how close I was to the wall. A lovely couple (mum & daughter) was sat next to use, literally on my shoulder. Any plans for intimate conversation went out the window. At this time, and for the next 40 unites, there was only 3 couples in the restaurant end. I initially asked to move but the staff replied with 'NO'. We have put names to every table and we cannot move anyone. By this time and the lack of any flexibility, I nearly left but getting a table elsewhere one Valentines was impossible. Our Starters was excellent, no complaints, and then it went south. the Steak was overcooked and looked thin and cheap. They replaced both steaks within 10 minutes and the second was nice but not out of this world for the price. The deserts were ok and we decided to have 2 different ones and swap however, my wife bit into her piece of stocky toffee only to find a bit if the silver foil...oh...She was distraught. My wife decided to go to the car when I went up to pay. There was little remorse from the staff, the chef never came out to apologise and I had to convince the waiter to reduce the bill. Overall, very dissatisfied and unfortunately I will not be going back (even though I am local). I am really disappointed, being local I really wanted to like the Inn so that I can visit it in the Summer but I think I will stick with the Smugglers and there Beach House.

Went in for a light lunch and got exactly what we hoped for. A small fish an chips plus a pint of cider for£13.50. Service was quick, efficient and friendly. The dining room was dog friendly. Lovely view of the sea from our table window.

Wonderful relaxed lunch overlooking the sea. We had the lunch menu. Ideal if you don’t want to leave the table feeling stuffed.

We arrived a little early for our afternoon lunch, approximately 20 mins. We stood in the bar area awaiting to be seen, staff passed us by several times before we had to usher ourselves to be noticed. We were seated to our table, we were not asked if we required a drink, just shown the menu. 15mins went by before we had to go and find someone. Once ordered the food came out fairly quick and was good. Unfortunately poor/lack of service always puts you off. It was a Sunday 2.15pm booking, the big lunch rush had gone so was reasonably quiet, so a lack of service was disappointing. The bar staff were very poor, young and busy chatting to other staff members. We heard many customers asking were there drinks order was, 20 mins one gentleman said and returned coffee because it was cold after being 20 mins late. Shame, it had good reviews and we were looking forward to eating there, for us, probably won’t bother again. Fantastic location, over looking the bay.

We found this Inn to be extremely friendly. The staff were friendly with a happy smiling face. The Sunday roast was delicious, not the best I have had, but very tasty, very good quantities and variety of vegetables. The location is mouth watering with full water views from the main direction and stunning coastal views along the cliff tops. I would be very happy to recommend this Inn to anyone interested, which I have done so already.

We used to visit the Inn frequently, up until a few years ago when ownership changed and the place was not great. Fast forward to now and it's back to being fabulous, and you can see the current owners have spent a lot of effort bringing it back to life. Great menu with plenty of options and our roasts were delicious. You cannot beat it's location. Looking forward to being a regular visitor again
