   Good service and food. My spouse had the seafood pasta I had oso bucco. No chunks of meat- more of a meat sauce. He particularly liked the shrimp, clams not so much- only a few and not that tasty. Busy on a Saturday night but crowd thinned out by 8:15. Nice Grillo wine from Sicily.

   It could’ve been five stars for a lot of things… the restaurant closes at nine. I arrived at 6:50p with 7 PM reservations and I just felt incredibly rushed- rushed to take my order, rushed to clear my plates when we weren’t done eating our appetizers or salad, just rushed overall. if you’re closing at nine, then closing activity should start at nine not at 7:30. The restaurant wasn’t even crowded. Also, although the food was good I mean it could’ve been better. The Caesar salad didn’t have the saltiness of anchovies or the zest of lemon it just lacked flavor. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, because I was craving spaghetti and meatballs, and the sauce, like it came from a can, and then the appetizer plate, no olives! Out of olives?! How do you run out of olives? There’s a grocery store right next-door, Whole Foods not far away. I mean just simple things. It’s such a nice location, such a lovely restaurant but just maybe yesterday being Sunday it just lacked so many things I was looking for. It had been years (just moved back to the peninsula) but I chose Il Vecchio over another restaurant and im disappointed I did. ☹️

   One of the few restaurants in Monterey county with excellent food and service and reasonable price! It is a regular for us and our friends and colleagues.

   Our waiter was trying, but the service was terrible. We had to go to the bar ourselves to get the drinks because everything was moving so slowly. Unfortunately, had to send back two salmon dishes because they were raw inside. Rib appetizer was overcooked, and the gin and tonic specials were lackluster. Came here with a large group for fun family outing and was sorely disappointed.

    Eating at Il Vecchio is always a treat. I’m Italian, and it’s like being at a family member’s table. The flavors are outstanding and you know the care that went into preparing each meal.
