il Portico Opened in 1988 ~Same Ownership ~ Fine Italian Cuisine
Located in the charming historic village of Tappan New York, il Portico has received National Landmark status. Built in the early 1850s, it once served as a stagecoach stop and hotel offering weary travelers accommodations for 3 cents a night! The atmosphere is warm and romantic.

We like to thank you for your support and your excellent review during a time when is very difficult to navigate the hospitality industry. We welcome your next visit in the near future. We will continue our post-Covid policy: with limited seating, reservation only - no walk-ins, and we will stagger our reservations.

I’ve said it many times but it can’t be said enough. This is the best restaurant in Rockland County. I’ve lived in the county for 51 years and though there are many terrific restaurants IL Portico is in a class by itself. Pepe and Paige are unique hosts creating an atmosphere that is both relaxed and elegant at the same time. The food is presented superbly and is always delicious. The service is always outstanding. If you have not eaten here, you are doing yourself a disservice. If you eat here once, you will be back many more times. Treat yourself to a wonderful dining experience

We had not been back since Covid and I’m so glad we returned. Peppe is a delightful host and the ambiance is like having dinner in someone’s beautiful home. Service could not be better and the food was excelle and beautifully presented. Don’t miss the cacio y pepe pasta. Can’t wait to go back!
