Il Poeta is an Italian restaurant with a Northern Italian cuisine. Chef and co-owner Mario Di Chiara has over 20 years experience in the most famous Italian restaurant in Venice and NYC with 10 years work experience in Cipriani’s restaurant. In summer 2011 the Italian Government award Il Poeta with "Ospiutalita Italiana nel Mondo" meaning that it is a truly authentic Italian restaurant (so far we are the only Italian restaurant in all Queens to have this award from the Italian Government).

    This was the first time to be there and my friends and I had lunch there. We tried the crab cake and grilled octopus from today’s special appetizer. Both dishes were very delicious! For main, I had ‘Tagliolini del Poeta’ (Homemade pasta in porcini mushroom sauce, wrapped with imported speck and truffle cream). It sounds heavy but it was not, and I finished up. I asked the waiter to put the candle for my friend’s desert as for her surprise birthday. They sang the happy birthday song and decorated the dish for her. My friend was very happy! Thank you very much. I would like to come back, and definitely suggest to try their food :)

    The food is always amazing, especially the eggplant croquettes and bronzino. The staff are welcoming and very attentive. You can always count on the consistency of the meals. It is a must for foodies.

    Excellent food and service - have eaten here many times for lunch and dinner and every dish has been wonderful - Chef Mario is very talented. Highly recommend Il Poeta.

    The most amazing and delicious Italian restaurant in NYC . My husband and I made this our last meal before moving out of NY and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

    Il Poeta is five star! Octopus appetizer was delicate, soft and has a balanced of flavors. If you like octopus, this is a must. Wine list is exhaustive and reasonably priced. For dinner, the homemade spaghetti with seafood was delectable. Of course the toasted sourdough bread with their homemade legumes in olive oil and tartufo dessert never disappoint! Waitstaff is attentive and friendly!
